It's easy to look back at simpler times and think they were better. Sure we've got all kinds of modern technology and lots of conveniences... but we also have over the top controversial issues, contention about everything, political corruption, corporate greed, crime, terrorists acts, domestic violence, and frauds & scams of everything imaginable. Prejudice is worse than ever against more and more different people for more and more reasons.
Add to this the social mentality of "its all about me", and there is little room for kindness and consideration for anything or anyone beyond themselves. And while, hopefully, the majority of people are still kind, far too many inspire everything negative about society.

So... The older you are, the more you feel that past times were much simpler and certainly more civil. Nothing was or is perfect, but things today are so far out of hand... It makes you long for the old days, and question the future.
All you can do is project kindness and enjoy peace in your own life.
