It comprises a multitude of factors. Clearly the largest factor is the era you grew up and in which you lived your life. In comparison there is a huge social difference between those born in the 40s, 50s and 60s verses those born the 90s and the 2000s. Negative Social influences are the biggest factors in the younger generations. No less a culprit, social media encourages a multitude of negative influences that affect people's perceptions. The trend today is to be offended by everything, defind everything as being unfair if it differs their beliefs, anything is always someone elses fault, and they feel the absolute need to argue with others to force their opinions upon them... no one can simply agree to disagree. And when the outcome doesn't agree with them, any negative response on their part is deemed justified. They believe that there is only one perspective... theirs. Their inescapable thought process is that they are always right.
There's no filter on anything they say or do, a product of social media where they say things via posts, texts, or chats without any repercussions, and this behavior carrys over into personal face to face encounters, resulting in argumentative controversy. Their lives are consumed by self imposed drama and controversy over everything.
So... Is it any wonder why their emotional wellbeing is stressed... And when they eventually crash emotionally, why their personal mental wellbeing is devastated. This is the product of our modern social and technology society. Add to this, negative influences fueled by politics and the news media to encourage social division resulting in more controversy. The mentality that its acceptable to use argue and use violence when they don't get others to conform to their beliefs... Which is in some part responsible for the violent shootings.
So what happens when reality collides in contrast and contradiction to their beliefs? Emotion devastation to their mental wellbeing. Perhaps the only road to recovery and change to hit rick bottom... And then pick up the pieces of their life.
Well adjusted? Clearly the vast majority of older generations have grown up and had lives that enabled them to be more well adjusted to dealing with emotional and controversial issues.
Not everyone of the younger generations is consumed by today's emotional issues... but certainly there is a greater percentage that let drama control their lives.
