A Walk in the Woods

Yep… another Walk in the Woods.

One of my favorite things to do.

Walking in the woods is like an adventure… fun, mysterious, enchanting, and always a voyage of discovery. Ya just have to look at everything, and all the beauty that abounds all around you. Ya never know what you will find. Just stop, look close, listen, and smell  all the differences in the woods.

It may take me a while to get past the flowers around the steps.

The colors, the sweet scents… wow.

Oh, look… lady bugs and butterflies.

www

Did I mention mystery?

So what was this?

There’s always interesting things in the woods…

Looks kinda gothic.

Stone steps lead the way…

the forest air smells so fresh…

still dew on the leaves…

and  how old are these steps?

There’s a reason why green is my favorite color.

Morning comes a little later, deep in the woods…

and everything is covered in  velvet like moss.

www (3)

Stairs run right along the brook…

refreshing water…..ahhh…

and there’s a little frog taking it all in…

no doubt waiting for breakfast.

www (4)

back into the cool green forest…

mist fills the air…

everything is still and quiet…

wonder where this path leads…

I love the woods in the morning.

www (5)

A winding foot bridge crosses the stream…

goes up into the woodlands…

wow, wonder how old this is… and who built it.

It’s kinda nice to be someplace where you get the feeling that no one but you has been here, but this was certainly not the case here… many have been here over the years and left their mark on the land.

www (6)

Morning finally enters the forest…

and the sunlight shines through the mist…

cool and inviting…

there’s a couple of chipmunks.

Sometimes I think… If only trees could talk…

what wondrous stories they have to tell.

www (7)

Then, at the end of the path…

in a clearing by the stream…

a house built right into the tree trunk…

and the tree grew right around it…anybody home?

wow… how old could this be?

www (8)

Then back to mysterious… carved in the stone…

Who carved this… and what does it mean?

www (9)

Another bridge crosses the stream…

It’s like a forest wonderland… filled with very old wonders,

bridges, brooks, streams, very old places…

makes you wonder who lived here to do all this…

www (10)

At the end of the bridge…a stone archway

like something from a time long ago…

ancient and somewhat tilted,

it beckons me to walk through…

Ah… the message in the stone!

A secret gate… and a hidden path”

to… “west of the moon, and east of the sun”

www (11)

Through the arch, and down the path…

a chateau in the woods… right in the stream…

strange & odd, and yet somehow inviting…

I call out.. a friendly hello…

but all I hear is the water running over the creek stones.

I’ll save this adventure for another day…

www (12)

following the sounds of the water…

going upstream… another little waterfall…

morning wakes the forest and the singing birds.

Oh…. more butterflies.

www (13)

Beyond the waterfall…a clearing of the woods…

and there it was… Towering above the trees…

It was just like a fairytale…

www (14)

I couldn’t believe my eyes… who lives there?

What wonderful mystery awaits…

it’ was like a dream…

www (15)

I heard singing…

a voice that sounded as sweet as the flowers…

and there she was…

ww

Down she came … floating like an angel…

flowing downward on her long hair

ww (2)

Excitement filled the air…

how enchanting… such a beautiful face…

and those eyes… that smile… just like a fairytale…

BEEP! … BEEP! … BEEP!

Why did I set that alarm?

Why?
