No comments? Did I read that correctly? I would think that whoever... it be, " they" or "them" can refer to themselves in any manner that they chose, without be judged or corrected by others. To each "their" own... be it singular or plural. Personally I never cared much for "proper" English, so long as I could convey my thoughts and feelings and have others completely understand me.
I guess times have changed for some since 1375... Not so much for others.
