Titanic Recovery

Salvage - Recovery of items from
the Titanic wreck site.

There are numerous perspectives and opinions as to the recovery of artifacts from the wreck site. Some say nothing should be removed... Some say anything is fair game.

Me personally,  I have a  distaste for absolutes. It's appropriate for some items to be removed. Having said that, everything should be in museums to be viewed by the public. I don't believe that anything should belong in private collections. Titanic is more than a wreck site, it's where 1,500 people perished, many sinking to the ocean floor to the wreck site. No doubt hundreds were intombed in the ship after sinking. It is hallowed ground and should be given a degree of respect. Leave alone personal items like shoes that someone died in, laying on this very spot, and were subsequently consumed by organisms that ate everything but the leather shoes. This is were their bodies came to rest. So I have an issue of recovering shoes & personal items. As to items from the ship itself... recovery is a good way to see the artifacts... in museums.  But to each their own.

A chilling reality...
Someone's body came to rest
right here, on this spot
on the ocean floor.
Essentially their grave.
They should not be disturbed.
