Amazing how little is know about your parents & grandparents before you were old enough to realize what was happening in their life.
Equally... You own kids and grandkids know almost nothing about you before they were old enough to realize and be a partner of your life.
American society today. I would think that less ethnically diverse pockets of society, as in native americans ( or is it proper to say indigenous people now?), or oriental people have maintained traditions of knowing about and passing down the lives of parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents, as well as distance ancestors. Stories and tales passed down generation to generation.
You might think that someday they may would want to know about you. But... Probably not. Such a loss.
