Photos

Photos... They've come a long way.

Looking back over 60 some years... wow, where did the time go?
For me it started with the old kodak brownies box that took black & white photos. Next came 35mm film cameras with variable manual settings, and the ever popular instamatic cameras that took film cartridges, 110 & 126... no settings to worry about,  just point and shoot.  We are made the jump to color photos, but still have to send them out for processing and prints. To which we would have hundreds upon hundreds of photos to out into albums. You betcha, they took up lots of space. Then there was the ever popular and costly hobby of photo scrapbooking. In the midst of this,  Polaroid developed cameras and film that gave you snapshots instantly,  no more waiting to send or take film out for a processing wait several days to get the photos back. I never really got into this craze.
For years 35mm film cameras and carefree point & shoot instamatic cameras were the all the thing.

Then everything changed...

Digital photography was born and the old film cameras lost favor. Digital took photography to a new level. But for the average person, point and shoot digital cameras 2-4 megapixels did not really enjoy great resolution.  Ranging from poor quality to good quality but never really great quality, At least not in the beginning. 35mm film cameras still were the good standard for crisp clear photos.
Then as time passed, resolution greatly increased near to the best resolution of film cameras. I used my 35mm digital Nikon for several years,  but this too gave way to digital pocket cameras. They were basically point and shoot,  but had numerous settings to customize your photos.... and the resolution was extremely good. Now photo resolution was jumped from 320x480 to 3000x4000. My nikon pocket camera became my camera of choice. Extremely easy to carry,  especially when walking around Disney all day. No more expensive bulky 35mm digital camera and equipment to lug around.
And the cost was only $150 forva pocket camera verses $1,200 - $2,000 for the 35mm digital camera, lenses, and equipment.
You will get slightly better professional results with the 35mm cameras, especially for low light or pictures went you are moving... but for everyday photos... I love my pocket camera.

The Digital Age...

Wow... no more bulky photo albums. Everything is conveniently stored on the computer to be easily grouped in files and viewed on a big computer screen. Basically take and store thousands of photos virtually at no cost.  Then there's the advantage of being able to use numerous photo programs/apps to correct or enhance photos that need a little help, bringing them even closer to the 35mm digital cameras. So unless you are a professional photographer, digital  pocket cameras more than meet the need, giving you great photos.

Now you have digital photos with which you can use many photo apps to create something more than mere photos. Photo colleges the comprise multiple photos into one themed picture. Or alter photos for special effects... The possibilities are endless. Throw in a bit of creativity and you can create your own masterpieces.

Then everything changed again when "smart phones" came off age with excellent cameras. Photos and videos in high resolution and countless apps to let your creativity go wild. You carry your smart phone all the time as well as the ability to take photos & video. So now the digital pocket camera is on the shelf with the 35mm digital camera... Both almost never used. Progress marches on.

So... Here's some examples...

Digital Photography + Programs + Apps

It's my version of scrapbooking.  No expensive photos, no bulky photo albums, and the ability to alter photos... adjust, add things, remove things,  combine things, incorporate text and clipart.

You already have the camera, the phone, and the computer... so taking unlimited photos and having unlimited fun creating photo memories to enjoy and share... priceless! Literally price-less... it doesn't cost you anything.
