Courtesy & respect

Courtesy & Respect

Mostly lost in today's society. I grew up in a suburban area and people were courteous & respectful. I was raised to say sir & ma'am. To be courteous out in public to everyone.  It's sad to say that this is mostly all gone in today's  " it's all about me"  ... drama filled... I'm offended by everything... cancel culture society.

And the changes varies from locations.
Inner cities.... no courtesy or respect... and you wonder if you can get to your car without being assaulted or carjacked.

( I hate the city, I don't even like large towns, too many people)

And the further away you get from the cities the likelihood of experiencing courtesy & respect increases.

Another area that you see a larger level of courtesy & respect is around military bases.  Military personnel are always courtesy & respectful to the general public.  There's a lot to be said for the military instilling good etiquette with its personal... Clearly the last couple generations of parents have completely failed to teach and instill any kind of common courtesy into their kids. It's sad, but I even see this in some degree in my grandkids.

But there is still some areas where there's at least have some level of courtesy & respect... small town America.  People are generally more courteous and show some respect, especially to older folks, especially if they are physically impaired. So that's a bit refreshing.
Courtesy & respect is at least partially alive somewhere... small towns USA. Even more courtesy on the road driving about.

Lately I've had a minor issue walking... hip issue, using cane. And it's refreshing to experience courtesy and respect... simple holding of doors and an "excuse me sir,  people moving out of your way or offering to help. People getting you up so you can sit on the bench.
Kinda restores your faith in mankind.

So yes, I enjoy country life. Less people and more common courtesy.
Small town Virginia. I could spend the rest of my life here... and hope I do.

There's the "mom & pop" business with the small town charm...
And there's  Walmart & Lowes...
And for everything else... There's Amazon.

However restaurants are slim pickin's. Good pizza is 20 miles away.

Small sacrifices for peaceful living.

And there's another huge plus besides living in the farm lands near a small town... the view of the mountains... And a short drive to Shenandoah national park and Skyline Drive.

Surrounded by nature and peaceful living.
They say a picture is worth 1,000 words.
