A well known company that markets a multitude of products. They have been around for a long time. I'd say a pretty good name particularly in electronics.
AS REPORTED BY NUMEROUS MEDIA OUTLETS...
Most recently hundreds of thousands of people, worldwide, have been put at health risks due to negligence related to medical equipment, including but not limited to Cpap machines.
This particular issue with cpap machines hit home with me, I've used cpap machines to sleep at night for 20 years. They produce constant positive air pressure to endure proper breathing while sleeping, namely to keep blood oxygen levels in normal ranges, preventing a stroke while sleeping. Additionally, to provide a proper restful sleep.
I have used Philips equipment for all of those 20+ years. Respironics RemStar Lx, Respironics system one, and Respironics Dreamstation. Like every one using their medical equipment, one should be able to rely on healthy performance... after all, it is medical equipment.
It been 30 months since a drastic health risk associated with Philips Cpap equipment was brought to light. The noise reduction foam inside the units was breaking down releasing carcinogenic particles and fumes directly into customers respiratory system. Worse yet, Philips knew about the problem 2 years before that... and did nothing the alert the public, nor correct the problem. Not only was people put as risk, but many suffer long-term debilitating effects directly from the carcinogenic materials being released by their faulty medical equipment. Philips knew, and purposely negligently took no action.
Once the problem was brought to light, a recall was issued. 30 months later a some people as still awaiting replacement equipment. Most got Dreamstation 2, or refurbished Dreamststion 1 within 18 months of the first recall.
Major lawsuits and settlements ensure.
As for myself, Philips turning a blind eye to defective medical equipment... knowing the was a health risk... and letting people continue to use that equipment as it poisoned their lungs and body, evey night for 8 hours, for years... All to make profits.
Using Philips medical equipment...
is like Rolling the Dice.
I'm not one to promote a boycott of Philips... use your own judgement for that. FOR MYSELF I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT MADE / MARKETED BY PHILIPS. They knowingly let me, and hundreds of thousands of others use their equipment despite the toxic health risks. I have sinus issues, lower blood oxygen levels, and trouble breathing during physical activity. And yes, I blame Philips.
Philips gave me a replacement of a Dreamstation 2. A cheaper made ill designed unit to replace by well made (except for the foam) Dreamstation 1 that was only 18 months old. The DS2 is overheating with the smell of burning. Hope it can last until March 2025x when insurance will buy me a new unit. It will NOT be Philips cpap.
Looking forward to a new ResMed unit.
