A little known fact... hanging stockings on the chimney with care. With care... yes, so they don't catch fire. The chimney was as today, simply the fireplace. It all started back in the 1700s. Not as a Christmas stockings stuffed with goodies... but as a more practical thing to do. Warm their socks! Toasty warm socks for cold feet on Christmas morning.... oh, those warn socks feel so good. Although socks were hung above the fireplace all winter long... it became a treat filled classic on Christmas morning. Warm socks and treats! And the modern Christmas tradition was born. Know ha know.
