Updated...

Call it updated... revised... modernized...

A lot to be said for things that are updated and modernized. Lots of things... Some good,  and some on the negative side. Like McDonald's.  Once looked like a happy fun place... Now it clearly doesn't look anything like a happy place... Now it looks a middle aged depression state of mind. But that look goes along with the prices. Not terribly to long ago, the hot fudge sundae was 99¢. Then it went to $1.29.
Ok, I get that, it happens to everything.   Went to the drive up window for a quick sweet treat, ordered 2 hot fudge sundaes, drove up to the window it pay... "That will be $6.45 please". And without thinking I blurted out... "you've got to be shiting me!"  Then verified that these were the little small sundaes? Right? Within two short years it went from $1.29 to $2.99 each. Paying that certainly wasn't any fun! And no matter how hard I tried to enjoy the little bit of ice cream joy, I couldn't get $2.99 worth of enjoyment from that sundae. Well, that was months ago in early summer... Haven't gotten it since. While traveling the rest of the prices seem to follow into that same pricing philosophy. We stopped in for a quick breakfast bite... 2 breakfast sandwiches, 1 hash brown, 1 small coke, plus tax... With rude service and sloppy sandwiches thrown together ... for $13 & change.
Yes... I have become my grandfather as to higher prices.
Everybody has jumped  on the minimum wage increase bandwagon... And from one perspective it's a overdue idea. From another perspective,  no one is talking about the cost increases that everyone will be paying for the elevated wages and services. And inflation rolls up, up, and away. I guess someone forget to increase my pension by the 18% inflation rate. But that's another story.

McDonalds... Once a happy place... Now, overpriced depression.
