The year in review… wow… another year has come and gone… and a new one starts. With the start of a new year it always nice to review the past year, if not several, just to see where you were in life… and what you hope the new year to be!
Wow… so many wonder memories with family and friends. Certainly too many to mention here less we would write a small book. I’d have to say the number one memorable time last year was spending the entire summer with our daughter and the three grand girls. Stayed with them for the entire summer… yes, 24/7… so we got to experience the good, the bad, and the ugly. Most grand parents enjoy the good, and send them back home before the bad & ugly part arises. Never the less… priceless moments morning, noon, and night! Everyday things like those simple little hugs that meant everything. The smiles and the laughs… all the fun times just playing. That’s what grandparents do… have fun with the grandkids.
If we were still working the normal 9-5 year round, we would be like most other grandparents and see the grandkids only on some weekends… but being mostly retired, we can spend the entire summer vacation with them… all day, every day! The word priceless can not begin to touch the experience.
We also got to take our youngest grand daughter to for a Disney vacation, just as we did for the first two. So they all have had an extended Disney vacation that they will remember forever… and so will we.
So we are semi retired… live fulltime in our rv… work part of the year… travel part of the year… and see old friends, make new friends, and enjoy different adventures traveling to new places, and old favorites. Two thousand and thirteen as a whole kept us in Florida… winter, spring, summer, and fall. Mostly between Disney World and the Florida panhandle.
Currently in the Navarre Beach area for the winter and spring… ahhh… toes in the sand and anything we want. Watching the sunrise and sunsets over the gulf waters right from the beach. Like I said… toes in the sand. We’re doing Activities in a mostly snowbird rv park… having fun, meeting new people, and keeping active. But still enjoying quiet times at the beach. Oh, look… there’s a pretty shell!
Often think about old friends we haven’t seen for a while… but that’s the nature of rving… every one is mobile in our homes on wheels… more or less scattered to the four winds in all directions and places across the country. Paths cross from time to time, sometimes after years, and it’s just as if you had seen them just last week… friendships renewed. Perhaps the most memorable are the times spent with those for a longer stays. All those we met since full time rving… our Outdoor World Pennsylvania friends, our Sunset King rving friends, coworkers at our camping jobs in Virginia, Florida, Texas, and Missouri. So many adventures and so many more people that you’d never meet in a normal house bound lifestyle. New places, new friends, new adventures… with some work thrown in to keep the economic hounds at bay. We have done more, seen more, and met more wonderful people in our rving adventures then we ever thought possible. All the miles, all the smiles, and all the memorable moments.
To sum it up… life’s experiences with new places and new people… they are one of the simple joys of life. Sometimes a simple walk on the beach is all you need to make your day special. Smiles, laughs, and fun times is what enjoying life is all about. So make the most of each day… make it something special you and others… and you’ll make memories to last forever. You’ll have a happy and probably healthier life, and enjoy simple things more, while letting the negatives fade away… or at least seem less important. Amazing how your toes in the sand and the waves lapping at your feet make the world seem more beautiful and peaceful… and to quote a song… give you that easy peaceful feeling.
So, find your beach, your happy place… make every experience something to remember. Make someone smile and laugh… and by enriching the lives of others… you enrich your own… and enjoy life to the fullest. Kinda sounds like good a new years resolution.
We have been full time rving for ten years… the perfect life on the road. We have lived more in ten years then the 30 years that preceded it. Sharing it with Shelly has made it all simply perfect! Have a dream, plan for it, make it happen, and live long and happy.
So what’s planned for two thousand fourteen?
Simply put… Ditto all the above!
The first sunrise of the new year…
It’s a great start to a new year!
Of course… it helps to be a bit crazy too…
