Crabby review…
This is a Maryland Blue Crab
This is a blue crab in nature
This is how you hold a blue crab…
those claws can really pinch!
This is how you collect blue crabs
by the bushel!
This is how you cook Maryland blue crabs – steam!
This is how you enjoy a blue crab…
Steamed and seasoned with “Old Bay”
ready to enjoy
This is how you have a very good day indeed!
A “Crab Feast”
yes… for one person.
mine… all mine.
This is crab meat that someone else picked for you…
‘cause, if I’m pickin’ them, I’m eating them, right now!
This is what you make with picked crab meat
Crab Cakes
(broiled)
Crab Cakes (fried)
Chuck full of meat, nearly any filler
or Crab Dip
or Cream of Crab Soup
or bite size Crab Balls
or something tasty in between…
( sidebar )
This is a fried soft shell blue crab sandwich
a real treat too.
This is how we season everything!
and this goes good with the crabs and streamed shrimp
Old Bay seasoning… a Maryland tradition.
( I think they even sprinkled it on my baby food )
I sure miss Maryland Food !!!
This is what you enjoy after you eat the crabs
When you want crabs in the southern states.
This is what you enjoy in the south…
because they don’t know how to fix blue crabs here.
( or crab cakes, or steamed shrimp )
This is crab legs… snow crab legs…
not to be confused with Blue Crabs…
but very tasty too!
this is a snow crab…
This is a snow crab leg feast…
and the makings of a very good day too.
But… back on track…
This is a southern crab cake
(below)
or if you prefer… a crabby patty…
or as I say… a crappy patty.
God only knows what they put in it…
red peppers, green peppers, celery, carrots,
leafy greens, onions, dried tomatoes,
and three other unknown crappy things…
( and if you can find it… a hint of crab meat )
drizzled with a special crappy sauce… REALLY?
Bad, bad, and bad.
this one is all that plus corn…
This is the really ugly!
Double Triple Yuck!

A quick story: While in Key West, a restaurant menu contained Maryland style crab cakes. Okay the first clue is the word “style”. The second is experience, ya can’t get a good crab cake in the south. We asked the waiter what was in the crab cake. He went to he kitchen and returned with an answer. Before giving us the answer, he asked us if we’d mind telling him where we were from. Our answer was Maryland. He said, in that case, us being from Maryland, he was told to advise us that there was many others great items on the menu that we would enjoy!
That about sums it up… no good crab cakes in the south.
Remember… this is good…
in fact a little bit of heaven!
and you are not going to get it anywhere in the south.
Tomorrow…
Ahhh… pizza!
but that’s another story!
As the French say…
Bon appétit !
This is where you go to rest after the crab feast…
toasted marshmallows over the campfire…
right on the water.
Priceless!
Life is Sweet.
