Too much time… yes, sometimes I wonder if we have too much time on our hands. This is the time of the year that everyone heads back indoors when the weather turns cooler, and outside activities lessen. So the new Tv season is starting. Wow, lots of great shows to pass away the time and entertain. We use a DVR to record everything. 1) We don’t have to be home and watch it when it airs. 2) We don’t have to worry about missing anything. 3) We can zip through the commercials. Great! But this new season is filled with old favorites and promising new shows. The DVR is currently set to record 32 different shows on a weekly basis with a few more to be added. Whoa… that’s a lot of shows. Crime, drama, mystery, fantasy, comedy, dancing, and football. Yep, that about covers everything…. completely.
The good news… those 60 minute shows only take about 40 minutes to watch after ya skip the commercials. The other news… it’s still a lot of Tv to watch. But that’s what rainy days and evenings are for… right? I won’t list them all here, but I’m sure that most are on your list too. Wow… I need to get out of this chair and doing something productive. But the new show season is over by the new year, and I can get going on projects again then… right. But then again, that’s the beauty of being retired, or semi retired… time to do whatever makes you happy. And the shows do keep ya thinking and figuring out things (active mind), or just plainly make you smile and laugh (good for the soul)… so they’re not a total waste of time… right? Some even give insight to another degree of learning… after all, they do in varying degrees teach you or convey things to you that you might not have thought of or otherwise known.
Then there’s the fantasy escape shows, just for fun, to take you to another place to just clear your mind of everyday things. And football… what can I say about football… the thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat. Wow, I think that’s been said before… but what a feeling to cheer your team on, right from your own living room. We don’t skip all the commercials… some tickle a funny bone. Of course they all fade into commercial obviation after several viewings, but certainly fun at first. Like the Ravens / 49ers commercial for hot wings, or the Geico commercials with the kids. And the iPad, “Do you still think I’m pretty?” Of course, most are either stupid or boring… that’s why we have a DVR! … skip right on past them! So how much time should be spent in front of the Tv?
Now for the facts…
Wow… after reading this… I don’t feel so bad anymore!
Guess I don’t have too much time on my hands after all.
Okay… then add in the movies…
