Eating healthily… wow, what a concept. If only I liked all those foods that are healthy for you… and could live without all of those comfort foods that we have enjoyed all our lives. All those great foods that are in varying degrees bad, worse, or even if possibly worser. Yes, that’s really a word, or at least a state of mind when you can’t have and enjoy what you want… yes… it’s gotten worser! But there are some good alternatives that can substitute and enjoy… even though old favorites are hard to go without. Can you say bacon! Real bacon, not the turkey stuff, or the ultra thin bacon that’s so thin and dry that you have to question if it’s really bacon at all. Then there’s the foods that are healthy but not the way you normally fix them. So, I can buy healthy foods, but make them incredibly bad by the way I prepare them… so I guess cooking with bacon grease is wrong? OMG! What’s next… no lard either? ( just kidding). Of course this is an extreme analogy… but just about everything that we eat, unless we grow it ourselves, is filled with all sorts of preservatives or flavor enhancers to keep it from spoiling and make something that is much less taste like something much more… or simply make it’s appearance more appealing, again like something that’s pretending to be more then what it really is. Like all those parts, bits and pieces, including the normally throw away parts, that goes into those chicken nuggets and the like. Ya really don’t want to know what’s in there… after all, they’re not made from prime cuts of meat. Well, here’s a couple of alternative suggestions that may help…
Now here’s a healthy mix…
A little something for Thanksgiving…
Oops… how did this get in here?
Moment of weakness…
Longing for a summertime treat…
But, ya can’t be good all the time…
Logan’s Teriyaki Pineapple Chicken
with baked potato & onion peels.
So, sometimes ya just gotta do what’s wrong, in order to keep your sanity to do what’s good for you. Like all that butter and salt on the baked potato, and fried onion peels and that killer sauce. But, I did have water for my beverage… so I’m good to go… right?
Little changes, a little at a time.
