Knowledge

Human Knowledge...
How far we have come...
and how much we don't know.

WARNING...
A MOMENT OF SERIOUS REFLECTION

Knowledge and the arrogance of thinking that we know mostly everything, and everything is within our control.
For as much as we know, it is but a fraction in comparison to what we don't know. Even our own history is filled with inaccuracies... theories and conjectures fill in what we don't know,  and are covered as facts.

"Control". Mankind is under the elusion and has the arrogance to believe that we can control of just about everything. And while we have the nuclear ability, and viruses and poisons to effectively devastate or even eradicate human existence,  we can do little to control the natural world. The illusion of control is over nature is evident even more today as the the natural cycles of the Earth become more hostile to the human environment.  More frequent and more intense. Floods, tornados, hurricanes, wildfires, volcanoes, earthquakes, storms & winds, droughts, food supply and global warming, are all effected by the Earths natural cycles. Ice ages, rises in ocean levels, the ultimately the impending cycle of reversal of the Earths magnetic fields will be catastrophic on human populations. Science believes that there have been several mass extinctions of all life on Earth.... and there will certainly be another one, sometime. Planet killing asteroids. Yes, out of human control. Plans are made to ensure human survival... as in less than 1% ... via special shelters. And the plan to migrate to another earth like planet a mere 700 years away.  The outlook for survival of the vast majority of mankind is rather bleak... hopeless. Someday catastrophic changes will occur, believed to be well of the the distant future. So you see,  in terms of Earths long existence,  human existence is rather precarious. But its much easier to think that this will not happen in our lifetime. The alternative is ... oh shit, we're all gonna die. But why worry... There's absolutely nothing  we can do about it all anyway... so be happy and go on with your merry life.
But don't be shocked by natural disasters as they become more frequent and more destructive.  And as ocean levels rise swallowing Coastline populations.

As for me, having passed 70 years old, I am closer to the end than the beginning,  so as conditions for the human environment becomes more precarious, I will hopefully not see these catastrophic changes.

Well... Isn't that a cheery note on which to start the day.  I was once told to not worry about things out of my control.  Be happy and enjoy the life you have.
No doubt good advise. So,  have a good day.
Make the most and enjoy every day.

Final thoughts...
Countries, societies, and the map of the human world has always changed throughout human history. Empires great and small have come and gone. The balance of human societies has always seemed to dominate and control more lands. It's only in a so called civilized world that world powers don't drastically expand their territories swallowing up lesser countries and societies. China is expanding, Russia is trying to expand. Nations seeking world domination, or at least their part of it.
Human societies has and always will change. There's is only a small degree of maintaining the status quo.
