Climate change may come rapidly,
as the earths magnetic pole moves and ultimately reverses as it has done several times in earths history. Climate zones will change drastically affecting not only weather patterns, but vegetation and crops and all wildlife. It may not be a mass extension level, but most livings things including humans will not all survive. Currently we are in the early stages of change. More frequent and intense weather disasters. Science theorize that as change gradually progresses it will reach the tipping point and the poles will reverse very quickly as will the earths tilt in relation to the sun. Tropics will become frozen, frozen will become tropics, all the ice at the poles will melt raising ocean levels several hundred feet.
Antarctica was once tropical... and probably will be again.
Hopefully this process will be very slow... not affecting my lifetime.
But remember, science has found another earth like planet and its only 3.3 million earth years away. Hopefully that eases your mind.
But in the short term. Special accomodations have been made for the 435 leaders of our government to survive if the most of us are gone. Clesrly this should make you feel better... right?
