Traveling ... I-81 in Virginia
There's lots of great places to see along I-81 in Virginia. One place that we truly enjoyed was visiting Mountain Lake Lodge ... a.k.a. ... Kellermens of movie fame from Dirty Dancing. Many of the scenes from the movie were filmed here. Located in Pembroke Virginia just north of Christiansburg. Now it is quite a drive up the mountain, but well worth the drive. It's a beautiful mountain top resort... and they have special events related to the movie. A day trip is nice, but a stay over ... a couple of days is more relaxing and enjoyable. Spoiler: the lake that was once there for the movie has basically disappeared. Most of the lake is now a dry lake bed. Also... There is no campground there, and the road up the mountain is harder in a large rv... But it's fairly easy in a car. Enjoy.
