What does work is changing your dietary habits, long term.
Portion control tempered with limiting frequently of enjoying high calorie, high carb foods. Totally eliminating favorites will drive you insane, thus ending a diet with bad results.
So that's my plan... long term dietary changes. Stage one, count calories, control carbs... goal is to loose 3 pounds per month. Began in August 15th. Goal... loose 15-20 pounds by years end. Averaging 1700 calories a day, carbs less than 60/day. Changing eating habits. Reading labels... using food scales and measuring cups.
So far so good... munchies limited to small mini bowls rather than eating out of the snack bag.
To date... 35 days... 5 pounds down.
Still eat my favorite foods... just with limits.
So it doesn't bother to see pictures and see commercials about yummy foods. Well... not too much. Excepting late evening when commercials play on the munchies. Pass the celery please!

Of course there's always special exceptions where normal dietary observances are negated in favor abolishing the daily calorie goal. Holidays especially Thanksgiving. Basically all federal holidays especially cookouts. Anniversaries. Birthdays... anybodys birthday... okay, restricted to family and close friends.
OH... and football games... college or NFL. And movies...Ahhhh, popcorn. Aside from these, I am good to go. Sugar free jello with cool whip... 30 calories.
Is it nap time yet?
Y'all have a good day.
