Star Wars Weekends… we knew it would be big, but attendance was over the top. Biggest crowds we have ever seem at Hollywood Studios. When the parks first open, there’s always the first big opening crowd and rush… usually for 30-45 minutes. This crowd had been pouring in for 3 hours, and still trying to come in after the parade had started, completely jamming the entrance area by the crossroads tower. So huge that you had to choose, close to the motorcade parade route, or close to the stage. We chose the parade route since the stage area by Mickey’s Hat, was already completely packed. We got there early, little over an hour before the parade and discovered that people had lined up starting 3 hours earlier. Personally, I think that is crazy… but they are big fans and probably knew what to expect. We like Star Wars… but not that much… we went over our limit by standing and waiting over an hour on the parade route. Got some good photos, but wouldn’t do it again. With both legs basically numb from standing so long in one place too long, we were ready to sit down after the parade and forget the stage show by Mickey’s Hat (couldn’t get close anyway). So we sat down, had a drink and snacks, and decided that trying to do any of the other Star Wars events would be too crowded, too much of a wait, and too hot in the sun. So we called it a day, that’s the beauty of annual passes…. it’s not like we paid a big fee to get in. The huge crowds and popularity of Star Wars coupled with the fact that the parade route chosen was the shortest route possible, made the situation almost impossible, squeezing the largest crowds into the smallest area. Nevertheless, worth at least doing once… or in our case, once just for a short time. It was nice to see guests dressed up, but there really wasn’t as may as we expected. Of course this was on Friday, and no doubt Saturday would be even more crowded. So if you are a big die hard Star Wars fan… plan on spending 2-3 weekends at Studios to see and do everything… huge crowds make it impossible to do it all in one day. Here’s some of our photos.
How did they do this?
One day normal… next day this!
Amazing !!!
Rumor has it… this really is a spaceship…
just put it in plain sight… call it a spaceship ( Spaceship Earth )…
and no one will ever notice… go figure.
But enough about the Mouse…
