Ancient history is almost completely unknown. There's always new discoveries that rewrite history. Ancient writings are easy to misinterpret, and then there's things lost to history because at some point, someone decided that it needed to be obliterated because it did not fall into their beliefs. So much of history that was once know, was destroyed. Coupled with completely unknown history, unknown civilizations... There's more thats not know verses what is known. The quest for knowledge. Perhaps someday, the gods shall return from the heavens, s all ancient cultures claim, and all, or at least some, will be revealed. But I don't think I'd count on that.
At one time, the oceans were at least 2,400 feet lower... or that ground once sank beneath the waves.
Science has a perception of what knowledge is found and how to interpret it. Sadly, too many things about ancient history is theory or assumptions, that is later proven to be inaccurate.
