Living through 8 decades
In two centuries, and two millennials.
Changes and events... so many changes.
First off... you get to the age where so many of the friends and people your age have already died. You notice it more and more. Especially if they were younger than you. Death is an eventual reality. And having lived this long means that you are clearly much closer to the end of life verses the beginning.
Looking back...all of your generation has lived through. All the wars and world wide turmoil. Social political unrest, crime & injustice, sickness and plagued, ethnic prejudice, terrorism destruction and death, natural disasters, economic depression, and a dysfunctional government.

But there were just as many bright spots like advancements in technology. Wow, all those advancements. From 3 channel black & white televisions to flat screen 60"+ color streaming limitless programs. Board games to video games. Wall phones to smart phones. Pen and paper to computers. Advances in medicine saving and prolonging lives.
From horse & buggy to cars and space ships. Did you know that today's smart phones have over a thousand times more computing power than the NASA computers that sent men to the moon.
So yes, lots of negative events and happenings, but also many positive happenings. But one thing that is always a constant... time... time marches on... Relentlessly. Time and changes are uncontrollably inevitable and constantly moving.
The perception or concept of time seems to vary. A good day goes by quickly... a bad day seems to linger forever. And your perception of your life span becomes more acute the offer you get. Time indeed is running out... and then there's the uncertainty of when you will finally meet you end. Two years, ten years, or another twenty?
