Kids today have all the modern conveniences as well as high-tech cell phones, tablets, and computers and internet... yet they will never experience the joy of playing outside and listening for the ice cream man to come down your street. Social interaction back then was playing with all the neighborhood kids, today it's playing on their tablets and phones in the isolation of their bedrooms.
In many ways we were blessed in the 50s & 60s.... even without, and perhaps in spite of the fact that there was no high tech.
Do I hear bells ringing ? ..... "wait a minute" !
