Labels

Labels can solve a lot of problems... like with canned goods.
Labels on people, for whatever reason... not so much.
And while most everyone seems to want to be equal and treated the same way, there's an inherent problem with labels. Labels provide the sourse to segerate things... the same is true with people.
History has always created labels on people simply because they looked or acted differently. Perhaps it's human nature... sensationalized and emphasized by underlying prejudice.
Prejudice simply because someone is different.
Labels divide things... labels divide people. And while each ethnic group struggles to maintain their heritage, keeping them unique, or if you prefer different... those differences lead to labels. Labels open the gates to prejudice. Prejudice leeds to a never ending negative social atmosphere. A social climate that most everyone would like to change, but for the labels making it almost impossible. And while any one group is seeking equality without prejudice, they create more and more labels upon themselves, setting themselves aside, dividing themselves from others, exasperating the situation, creating more division.  It's pretty much a no win situation.
Label yourself, segregate yourself, socially divide and isolate your social idenity and others will acknowledge your label, and social division will perpetuate itself leading to resentment, prejudice, and all that follows.
Add to this the fact that there's the "its all about me generation" and that "no one can agree to disagree", and no one can simply "let anything go"... you have the perfect storm for continued social division.

Of course, politics, politicians, the news media, and social media fuels the fire of social division creating an even more toxic society.

JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT... take from it what you will.
