Halloween vs Christmas

Halloween verses Christmas.
Well,  is all a matter of personal preference. And as with all my posts, I never intend to change your preferences or beliefs. To each their own. I offer my perspective or sometimes simply a different perspective... take from it what you will. So why say this? Because no doubt, there will be those that take offense when I say that I like Halloween much better than Christmas. Having said that...
Christmas has over the years become much more stressful and continues to pile up more and more negative aspects detrimental to enjoying the celebrations. Decorations are great and enjoyable... but more and more elaborate. Gifts for children, again a big positive. Gifts for adults, well... they are increasingly becoming more stressful. Great efforts to get the perfect gift often misses the mark. Receiving gifts that miss the mark, so what do you do? Carefully re-gift sometime later? Worry if the gift you got will be missed by the giver when you no longer have it? Then there's stupid gifts.... useless, meaningless, and those "what were they thinking" gifts. All the time, effort, and money spent on the wrong gifts.... whether you the giver or the receiver... disappointment and anxiety. Some people say that Christmas has become way too commercial,  and starts way too early. Family get togethers... the entire family comes together for holiday dinner or celebrations... and there's always tension between someone. You think... how long will emotions remain in check... Or will all out war breakout? Then there's the annoying controversy of Merry Christmas verses Happy Holidays. Who created the the controversy?  Well, like everything else... those that are religious who think they have exclusive rights to the holiday and simply can not accept that others don't have the same reverence for the holiday... and seek to impose their beliefs upon others. No surprise there. So, all in all, Christmas continues to have too many negative aspects detracting from the carefree enjoyment. But, it is what it is... and how it affects you will certainly wary.
As for me... Halloween is much more enjoyable. Completely carefree with no stress.
Fun to decorate, fun to costume, fun to make treats, fun parties,  fun to watch scary movies, fun to tell scary stories... well, just plainly completely fun without stress or pressure to find that perfect gift. Did I mention all the fun things in October?  Fall colors are breath taking (not dead looking like winter). Cooler temperatures (not cold or snowy) to enjoy hot cider, cocoa,  and campfires. So much more cheerful than the winter blues and hub-bub over Christmas. Yep.. Halloween is the best for me.
But there are those that would say that Halloween has pagan origins.... And not to be taken too seriously. Well, reading historical accounts, if they are to be believed,  the celebrations that are now Christmas have their origins as pagan holiday celebrations, and due to it widespread popularity, along with the rise of Christianity, the season was basically claimed and transformed into the modern day christian holiday of Christmas. Thus invoking one more controversial stress during the Christmas season... Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays.
Yep... Halloween is much more fun!
