There's always a way to find extra magic. Disney resort guests get free extra magic hours on certain days before the park opens and after the park closes. I'm not sure how magical (less crowded) it is since Disney has in excess of 20,000 rooms, and the associated guests (40,000-50,000) that could take advantage of the special guest only times. Then there's special events like "Villains after hours" and the "Not So Scary Halloween party"... which cost extra and the park closes early to the general admission public for these events....usually at 7pm and the party goes until midnight. Haven't been to the Villains Party, but I'd recommend the Halloween party.
Then there's the "after hours event".... selected dates where you can enter the park at 7pm... Park closes to the general admission at 10pm... and you have after hours event from 10pm to 1am... When the crowds would certainly be less.... and hopefully wait times would be much less for rides and attractions. Planning ahead could make your visit a bit more enjoyable. ...if you don't mind being in the parks late into the evenings when families with kids are finished for the day. Just keep in mind... No matter which form of magic you choose... All magic comes with a price.
