10 years

Coming up on ten years of full-time Rving. Oh the places, the people, the friends, and the memories. So many great times and places. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. Looking back, it was the best thing I even planned to do. I remember everyone telling me one of two things. From the standpoint of hopes and dreams… “I’m jealous… I’d love to do that!”. From a socially acceptable practical point of view… “OMG, quit your job, sell your house, are you crazy?” The important thing was not to let the OMG people steal my dream.  Sadly, so many people we have met, that had the I’m jealous outlook, well, sadly, most if any, will not actually make it come true and do it themselves… socially convention lifestyles will overrule what they do… and that’s a shame. It’s been a wonderful 10 years rving with the love of my life, Shelly. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s not just going places, but living different places… following the best weather… mainly the southern warmth in the winter. New places, new people, new adventures, new experiences. So what did I give up? Well, I could have worked another 15½ years, of which another 5½ would still remain, doing the convention socially acceptable working to support the job and the house, and take a couple of vacations every year. I just couldn’t see spending those 15 years doing the same thing I’d already done for the past 30 years. After all, at age 50, those next 15 years were gonna be the best years of what I had left in my life… so a change was well deserved. Besides, I’d seen too many people working until 65, if they lived that long, retire, and be physically all used up. Stay in the same house they worked for all their life, and sadly past away within a few years. At best some remained healthy and got lots of use out of the rocking chair. So as I said… the best choice I ever made!If you happen to be one of the “I’m jealous” people… want it, plan for it, don’t let anyone steal your dream… and do it… it’s been wonderful! YoHo, YoHo, the Rv Life for Me!

Gotta do something in the morning when Shelly’s still sleeping…
