DO I LOOK SERIOUS ? ….
DO I SOUND SERIOUS ? …
I THINK “NOT” !
Being SERIOUS…. now there’s a topic that hits home. Being serious on a scale of 1-10… 10 being like a heart attack… well… I guess I’m usually about a “3”… but sometimes slipping into a playful “1”… okay… mostly slipping quickly into a “1”. I guess most people that are still in the working career world “mode” are probably at a level 8-10 while working (all serious and stressed) , and still at a 5-7 most of the time (still thinking and feeling the stress), and maybe on rare occasions slide on down to a 2-3 (usually educed by a cold beverage of the alcohol variety), and perhaps slipping into the status of a “1” (totally worry and stress free) after the fifth drink. I’m somewhat blessed to be able to reach the level 1-2 without the cold drink. Never taking hardly anything too serious… maybe that’s why they call retirement (or semi-retirement) like a second childhood… no worries, no stress, living the carefree Rv lifestyle going where we want or where ever the wind blows us… at least for the most part. Would have been a bit better if the whole economy/investment snafu hadn’t tanked us all. Politicians running the country into the ground, people loosing jobs, homes, retirement, while they sit back grabbing all they can… use to say they have their hands in our pockets… have to change that now… nothing left in the pockets… so they are taking the food out of us mouths (but that’s another story that I’m sure most of you know all to well). Best take on life… don’t worry about what you can not control or change. Did you get that…. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN NOT CONTROL OR CHANGE… unless you like stress, or have a plan to get above the 90% that live a stressful life… and in that case… SHARE!
My disadvantage… well… if you want to call it that… generally being a 1-2 on the stress meter, and being less serious about almost everything… I have a completely different perspective about life than the person that is actively consumed by stress and tension and worries, at the career jobs with the house, vehicles, utilities, taxes, etc, etc. Some handle stress well and learn to live with it, some suffer with it as new stresses arise, and some use the cold beverage method (which to say is really not a fix or cure). So what’s my disadvantage? Well trying to relate to everyone that is still at 8-10 on the stress meter. My playful non serious attitude is sometimes misunderstood, dismissed, or just like talking in different language. Some don’t get it, some don’t understand it, some just can’t handle not being serious or relate to it… because of where they are at… drop dead serious. ouch! They are always so serious, I am just the opposite… the two meet for a brief moment… and than we are mentally looking at each other saying to ourselves…. “ Wow… How do they live like that?” So who’s to say what is better.
I generally work 4 months a year and play for 8 months. I don’t have the expense of a house… payments & interest, taxes, utilities, maintenance & upkeep, insurances, lawns to mow, thing to paint, etc, etc. All this stuff usually adds up to consume 1/2 of your useable income… and now days perhaps 75% of your income… it’s called working to support the house… which will still be there long after you are gone ( just a different perspective). This doesn’t even count the added expenses of time and money related to the job, all the time you spend getting to work, spend at working, spend getting home, the vehicle expenses, fuel, clothes, etc. Generally the work day is close to 11 hours/day… sometimes more… from the time you get up, get ready, drive to work, work, drive home, and take care of getting clothes & stuff ready for the next day. Work 75% of your life just to support the house and your working life… all depends on what you want out of life. I kinda like the 33% work plan… that lets me do what I want 66% of the time and be stress free… but that’s just me.
Anyway… or anyhow… depending on your preference… please forgive my non serious nature and any misunderstandings that arise from speaking a different language… from the viewpoint of being carefree, stress free, and having an over playful outlook on life. I just chose something that is better of me… and it’s all about choices.
So until it’s forced on me… I’ll take the non serious stress free playful road if you please. So yep… it’s true what they say… I’m never serious… or at least 90% of the time. Have a nice day.
