History

History as we know it. The only history that we know as 100% factual is what we personally experience and even that is subject to our own perception. 

Modern history while mostly factual is subject to the perception of others as they tell the story. Tainted by their preconceived notions of how things should be,  their sense of right & wrong, and in many cases, their agenda to present their version of history as to how they want it to be seem. To justify or condemn, persuade to a certain viewpoint, alter the readers perception, and in some cases outright alter the facts misrepresenting the actual facts. So, be careful what you believe. 

The further you go back in history the more its open to deviating from actual factual information. Unknowns are subject to speculation based on limited knowledge and perhaps even guessing. Anything outside the realm of human abilities is explained in the most unlikely terms or just left as an unknown with unanswered questions.  Any thing attributed to supernatural abilities is attributed to folklore and easily dismissed, even though there is no earthly explanation in human terms. And those no earthly explanations... folklore... were adapted to religious agendas... but that's acceptable and believable.  

Then there's history, written by the conquerors, which justify reasons, methods, and outcomes... to make everything they did seem acceptable. Much like the religious Crusades that killed hundreds of thousands in the name of religion. Early United States history... that killed thousands of Native Americans to take their lands, again justifying reasons, methods, and outcomes. This scenario has been repeated worldwide, over and over.

Again, historical "facts" that really are not factual. 
Be careful what you read or what you were taught. 
Question everything, even if no actual facts are available.  History is not always what it seems.

Then there are those that twist the facts to achieve their personal agendas. Tell you who to blame, and who to hate. Social media does this very well.

News media all have political agendas... So there's not much you can believe from them either.

Rude

Rude...

Being rude has a spectrum of degrees. From indifference or ignorance to polite manners... to being crude and obnoxious.  Perception is a large part of determineing what us considered rude. Some people are easily offended by the slightest smallest inclination of rudeness. Others are more inclinded to easily disregard, and ignore rudeness... let it go and move on. Some things are beyond change and not worth the effort to try. 

We've all lived with our perception if what we consider rude all our lives. 

Today,  with the current social atmosphere,  the definition and perception of rude has heightened the degree or sensitivity , or the slightest hint of rudeness is considered monumental.  The expanded definition now includes any thing that does not coincide with their beliefs or perspective of how life should be. If there is a policy that doesn't agree with someone's beliefs... than its rude. If a boss councils an employee for something they are not doing right... It's considered rude. Basically, young people today consider anything not to their liking rude. If a teacher doesn't cuddle a student with kit gloves and says their assignment is late, incomplete,  or didn't follow instructions... then its rude. 

Todays kids are over sensitive and take offense to everything... yet it's okay for them to be rude to others in the same manner that they would consider rude to themselves.  That's todays world. It's a self made life of anxiety fueled by their feeling that everything is rude... and not being able to let anything go. 

For my grandkids... Why do you let so many things bother you so much? Even when it doesn't directly affect you?

The older you get the less important socializing becomes. For me, after twenty years of fulltime rving... campgrounds, rv resorts, clubhouse activities,  and being cast members at disney... well, I'm all socialed out.

I'll sit back, listen, letting most of it pass right on by... and after a while someone will ask me if I'm okay. And thats a good thing, someone breaking away from their conversations to notice that I'm not participating in the group discussion.  Yep, I'm just fine. 

Socializing just isn't my thing as much now. You know its not my  thing when all I hear is...

Dah, dah, dah... duh, duh.

And don't remember anything thst any body said. Go figure.

Historic Route

Like most major roads today, 

they had origins as dirt roads since colonial times. 
From town to town, ever expanding eventually

to hundreds of miles in length,

covering vast distances.

Once taking several days by horse or wagon,

now mere hours by car. 
During the civil war,  armies marched 

these prominent roads barely getting 20 miles/day.

This is one if those roads.

Culpeper, now my home town,

my retirement town, 

where I plan to live out my life.

Wow... I was today years old when I realized something that has totally alluded me my entire life, has suddenly became apparent. I have probably been putting my socks on incorrectly for 70 years, although there was a 50% chance they were on the correct foot... just by chance. Did you know that socks are actually labeled "L" & "R" for left foot and right foot, surprise... who knew that? This totally blew my mind. And yes, there's still some left to actually do that!  Surprise!

It's a grass root concept to refresh and 

Offer new experiences. 

But over time many favorites disappear. 

Despite Disney Worlds seemingly 

Unlimited space to expand...

Disney has destroyed and rebuilt 

Over and over... Continuously. 

Some things are simply repurposed.

Many things are destroyed and replaced. 

Popular things gone forever. 
Like the Epcot Fountain 

Which was the foundation to celebrate 

World Showcase.

Countries from all over the world brought water

to create the fountain... a celebration of world unity.

Recently cast aside for change & redevelopment. 
Now... no one will ever experience that wonderful fountain and its Origins story...

Or the cooling mist on hot days.

It was once deemed a Kodak Picture Spot

were families would gather for memorable photos 

in front of the iconic fountain...

Year after year. 

Latest news... O'Hana restaurant closed.

A favorite of many. Often booked months in advance

Due to its popularity.
