Social Censorship

Social Censorship.
The world we live in today.  Too many people are offended, opposed, condemn, and actively want to censor anything that doesn't agree with their beliefs or feelings. And there inlies the major issue... too many people can not accept that others will have different feelings... and they can not abide with a live & let live social environment. They want others to conform to their thoughts and feelings, to the point of trying to censor or force change upon others.

Prior to the American Civil War
In the beginning... the farmlands and fields were peaceful and quiet.

Having said that... Early 1861... tension was building between the southern states and the northern government. There is not doubt that the powers to be in the south incited the war between the states on the issue of maintaining slavery. The south could not raise an army getting southern whites to fight and die, so that the southern political powers and plantation slave owners could keep their slaves. Propaganda got the southern whites to fight for the freedom to govern themselves verses the northern government controlling their lives. The overwhelming majority of southern soldiers were not fighting to keep slavery, making the rich and powerful richer. The norths rally point was to preserve the union, which later changed to freeing the slaves as the war was going bad for the North, support for the war was greatly diminished, and the north needed a renewed purpose to the war to maintain northern support. So, the southern soldiers were not fighting to preserve slavery via a southern propaganda agenda, and the north in the beginning was not fighting to abolish slavery ( that concept was introduced later to rally and bolster northern support for a war that was dragging on too long that may wanted to end).

So the war raged on for 4 long years.

After the war, the fields remained silent.

In the memory of those that faught and died,
Battlefield reinactments were like living history.

Now, the battlefields are mostly silent again.
Those offended by history can not simply turn away from
the reinactments, but activity seek to surpress, condemn,
and force their objections upon others...
ending most reinactments.
Vandalism of monuments and graves are the actions of those offended by history. Those that think that destroying history
will make their lives better today.

As if this is going to change their life for the better.
I fear it will only bring about more social division and resentment.
Thus having exactly the opposite desired effect.

The flag that they oppose wasn't even the official flag for the confederate government (see below).
What most think was the confederstd flag was actually
a battle flag for Virginia or Tennessee.
(so much for those misinformed)

Today... the fields are again silent...

Waiting for history to fade away ...

Civil War history is even being discouraged in school.

Today we live in a society that
seems to blame anything,
including history,
except themselves for todays issues.

I completely can not understand how erasing history
is going to make their lives better.

Why do people want to abolish history
Rather than concentrating on today issues,
to solve today's problems.
