Electronics in the modern age of instant communication and social media.
I see people... friends ... and family... talking about how they miss the old ties that bound together friends and family. The togetherness and personal interactions that were the defining aspects of their relationships. So why are they fading away?
I remember being at a family get together.... 7 adults and 3 kids. 5 adults and 3 kids were engrossed in social media and the internet, much to the exclusion of family interaction. This happens all too often. So not only are we loosing meaningful interactions with family and friends, but social interactions with anyone. Teenagers are spell bound to electronic social media to the point when they are not developing skills to interact with others face to face. Plus no one can simply agree to disagree... bring social media to a test of wills, a never ending debate of who's right. Add to this the fact that too many people have become too political on social media. More than half of their posts are political oriented... All negative in aspect. Does anyone really enjoy seeing political crap from family & friends when it's in our face on every news broadcast, and every talk show, and even creeping into tv shows? Plus political ads and business advertisements flood social media making it even more resentful. Then there's the bombardment of "shares" on Facebook that dominate, virtually eliminating personal interaction of what you are doing, how you are doing, and what makes you happy.
Social media is but a shell, an ever increasing small aspect, all but eliminating personal content. Once a great platform to stay in touch with friends and family... Now a forum for almost everything but personal content. Truly a shame. Maybe its just me. Maybe I'm too old and set in my ways... but I just don't see the benefit of having to endure negative political crap or having my news feed blown up with "shares" to have 10% meaningful interactions. But, it is what it is. So I weed through it all to see the personal interactions of what you like, what's happening in your life, and the joys of your adventures. So that's my little rant of the day. Not try to tell you what to think... but simply to think. Y'all have a great day.
