Well... nobody talking Disney is saying anything about anything except Star Wars!
Here's some Facebook sites to get all the up to date info...

Must do...

Another must do favorite at Magic Kingdom. Yeah, its old fashioned and its not high tech,  but it's still a classic ride attraction that brings back nostalgic feelings from childhood visits. And it fun, if if a bit corny. But that's what make believe is all about.

Perspective

HERE'S WHAT NEEDS TO BE EXPLAINED:

There's always more than one perspective. Given the recent rise in the cost of insulin there's a heated debate about not only the unreasonable cost, but the fact that the government can give away meds to those addicted to illegal drugs... and not do anything about the diabetic insulin crisis.
One perspective is simply as stated... why won't the government do something about insulin prices when they are more than willing to help out drug addicts.
Another perspective says that those struggling with addiction are not the enemy, and should not be singled out over the issue. And claim that it's embarrassing that this needs to be explained to the public.
It's not saying that addicts shouldn't be helped, its saying that if the government can help addicts, why aren't they doing something about the insulin crisis.
So who deserves the help the most, or the help first?
Again, it all depends on your perspective. Diabetes is a medical condition that wasn't a choice, no one made a choice to be a diabetic. And while drug addiction is considered a medical condition, it started with a choice, a bad choice. A repetitive conscious bad choice... knowing the consequences. So, if only one group is helped, who should it be?
So don't say that there shouldn't be a comparison between addicts getting free meds as the insulin crisis continues to escalate... And that struggling addicts should not be singled out for this comparison. No one is saying they shouldn't get help. They are simply questioning the governments priorities. So don't go there.
Just saying... From another perspective.

Advantage

Advantage.
The hottest ticket possibly ever at Disney is the new Star Wars attraction. It will without a doubt break all records for attendance. Wait times for previous new attractions reaching 300 minutes... yep, that's 5 long hours... will easily be surpassed. Need an advantage? Disney has the answer.  In addition to the ability to get preferred access to fast passes, and for premium resort guests to buy additional fast pass, staying at a Disney Resort will give you the advantage of an extra 3 hours of Extra Magic Hours per day during the opening months of the attraction. Great for the guests... If you are staying with Disney. Get any advantage you can. It also represents Disneys efforts to get park guests to stay at Disney Resorts... which self feeds the ability to generate even more income money for Disney. So,  if you are staying at a Disney Resort,  is a win-win scenario. If you are not staying at a Disney Resort,  you will be fighting the masses and probably be part of the record setting wait times. Life is full of choices.  For the good,  or not.

People and politics

American people... Politics... and the Media that divides us all.
Facebook as a media to influence public opinion.
Several concepts come into play here.
(too much to read? Most important things are)
# Fake accounts that spread false information full of lies & deceptions to negatively impact public opinion about political opponents.
# Actual truthful news about information that would negatively impact public opinion  about an opponent especially if a cover up discovered....oh dear.
# Real accounts of real people that spread posts via "share" that supports either their  views either positive for their candidate or negative towards another.
# The "share" button is like the old concept of  exponential multiplication. 1 tells 10... 10 tells 100... 100 tells 1000... 1000 tells 100,000... and so on. It matters little if the  "shares" are accurate or truthful... or completely made up lies.
So its been said the Facebook greatly influenced the last election. Either via negative smear posts and misinformation, or detrimental coverups revealed. Positive information was also presented, but as you know, negative detrimental issues make the news and are a greater influence. Let's assume that all this true. Facebook was a greater influence on the election results.
After all... People will believe anything as true & accurate if they hear it enough times. So is Facebook the big bad unrighteous terrible influence that needs to be condemned? Well, not much more than the mainstream media of tv news, TV talk shows,  and printed media. Mostly on opposite sides, the media condemns Facebook for its influence on the public... Isn't this the very black pot calling the kettle black.
Like most Americans we are all sick of the media bias, the politicians, and the never ending relentless political rhetoric that creates social division resulting in political apathy and indifference, or heated political debates.
So, where does it stop? Well, it's too far gone... It will never stop... only causing more resentment and division.  Like the old saying... want to start an argument, talk religion or politics.
One last comment... political posts on Facebook... some will agree with you, so will not, and others simply resent the once personal connection of Facebook being used for part of the relentless political rhetoric. How many people quit using Facebook because of this? How many people are dropped from news feeds and unfollowed due to political rhetoric?
Just saying... Everything has a place.

Closings

UPDATE... The rumor mill. First the word gets out.  True or not true?  Planned or not planned? Discussed or not discussed? Who really knows.  Plans have been rumored before and later came true.  Some were denied, and later came true. So who knows until it really happens. But given past history, too many times Disney destroys things to build up new things. So nothing seems too unimaginable. Only time will tell.

BOTH ARTICLES SHARED FROM FAVORITE FACEBOOK SITES.

New closings at Disney World. Historically, building at Disney,  refurbishment, and closing attractions have always been one of the constants at Disney... change is the constant.  New things are added.  Old things are replaced.  And now, more than ever, things are totally torn down to make room for new attractions. And it happening at a fever pitch.  So many things are gone.  The latest are the two pavilions in Epcot... the Land Pavilion and the Seas Pavilion. They contain two 5 star attractions as well as other historically popular attractions. It appears that they are going to save Soar'in... but everything else will be gone.  Wow. Sometimes I wonder why they can't work around existing attractions and expand into undeveloped areas for the new construction. They do sometimes,  but sometimes the answer is to destroy perfectly good attractions, amenities, and buildings to create something new. This concept is mostly lost on me. Nevertheless,  prepare to say goodbye to two of the most popular  pavilions in Epcot. I guess I've seen too many things changed, discontinued, eliminated, and features demolished in the name of progress. Yes,  progress is good,  New is good,  but so many things lost forever... Alive only in our memories.  Such is life. But some things, despite progress, I'll never get over... like SpectroMagic the night time parade in Magic Kingdom... simply stopped, eliminated,  and left in the open for nature to destroy. By the way... SpectroMagic was the most popular nighttime parade drawing every guest to one of the two performances nightly.
What else can I say?

Yesteryear

Those thrilling days of yesteryear. You'd have to be at least 50 years old to remember these TV shows.  No cell phones, no tablets, no video games... there tv, board games,  or playing outside.  So TV shows were a big part of childhood.  Kinda like the electronics of today,  TV was quite the captivating electronic wonder of its time. The fact that it was in black & white only made no matter. Tv shows were full of adventure and drama and action. Here's s some of my old favorites. Any memories?

Lots of Laughs

Another must see for us at Magic Kingdom is the Laugh Floor in Tomorrowland. You get to sit and relax in the cool theatre which is especially nice on hot days. And the show which is basically the same but a little different each time.  And yes... There's lots of laughs to be had.  Mike and the rest of the monsters are certainly entertaining. But watch out for Roz, she's always watching.

History

Summertime... a time for many things. Not least of all for me,  to reflect on history and historic sites. Of course its hard to think about history when staying in Virginia, and not think about the Civil War. So a little light reading this morning includes articles about Gettysburg. I've probably read most of it before... forgotten... and now renewed. It's hard to imagine 158,000 men involved in this one battle... 15,000 confederates charging across nearly a mile of open field while under constant cannon & rifle fire. And the combined 51,000 casualties that resulted from the three days of fighting. And if you didn't know it, the origins of Memorial Day date back to the Civil War to honor the war dead... Originally called  Decoration Day.

Contradictions

Contradictions run throughout history.  And as more and more facts come to life,  history is rewritten.  What we were taught, what we thought we knew, all changes, as new evidence comes to light. And as we adapt to the new information and the changes,  our knowledge grows.  We have a greater understanding of our past as never before. Once accepted teachings give way to new knowledge.
Except teachings based in religions...  Reluctantly, beliefs never change despite the facts that prove that they can not be true. Belief verses truth & facts. Emotionally, faith & beliefs never change despite the facts. Perhaps that's the biggest problem with religions today. Too many inconsistencies and contradictions ... hundreds, not to put too fine a point on it, making it hard to accept certain things on faith while the facts prove otherwise. Then there's the century outdated practices that no longer apply to a modern civilized world... Especially as it relates to women and slavery.  So at what point to we discard certain teachings, as we have done in the past, and what teachings will not longer apply in the future? There has never been as many discarded teachings in religious writings today verses in the past. What will finally be discarded in the future... as more and more facts & truths replace the disproven teachings. The track record is not to good for faith, beliefs, and religions.
But, that's an individual choice.  There is always freedom of religion to believe and live your life as you will. Just remember... Others have "freedom from religion" and should the right to enjoy this same freedom. Of course everything is open to interpretation. You can take the teachings literally to reinforce your beliefs, while discarding the literal meaning of other teachings that don't fit into today's society. Confused? Not to worry... Someone will explain it all, to rationalize why some things apply to your belief, and others shouldn't. There's always an explanation. And there in lies the problem... There's always an explanation as to why. Quotes for every application or issue that will make everything seem right. And if you feel good with this... hey... Enjoy. Rest assured... for every contradiction... There's an explanation. Just stop thinking and seeking to force those beliefs upon others. Just saying.

Captive Toys

Who knew there were toys being held captive in this trailer? Buzz & Woody knew.

The reason...

The Reason for the Holiday.... So that the solemn memory of the holiday not be lost.

Memorial Day

Hope everyone is getting ready for the Holiday Weekend.
Memorial Day... The first of the three major Summer season holidays. A time for family,  friends,  & cookouts. Also a time to honor those that died serving this country to preserve our freedoms. You always think of holidays having been around for a long time, but Memorial day was first made a federal holiday in 1971. Additionally it originally dates its origins back to the American civil war as Decoration Day to honor the Dead from the Civil War. It's hard to imagine 620,000 casualties in the Civil War. If you think of a stadium fill with people.  Then think that's 10 times the crowd capacity of Oriole park at Camden Yards (46,000)... plus another 160,000. Hard to imagine that many people. So now you know some little facts that perhaps you didn't know.
Y'all have a great holiday,  but take a moment to reflect on why we celebrate the holiday.  Burgers, hot dogs, fries, and watermelon... enjoy.

Green n growing

There are fields green with grasses waving in the breeze, fields with browned out grasses ready for harvest, newly cut grasses ready to roll into bales, round hay baked popping up in the fields, and newly flowed fields with countless tiny rows of little sprouts everywhere. So nice to see everything greening up and the corn starting to grow. Still have to buy my corn & tomatoes at market until local crops are ready. Oh, there's also lots of cows... and squirrels, and deer, and birds of every kind.
So what do I hear?  Lots of song birds... and nothing else. Peaceful and relaxing... Where's my rocking chair? Y'all have a great day.

Hay y'all.

Just out for a ride in the country...
Beautiful day...
Hay... ... ... I said... Hay!

Hot verses cool

It's was unseasonable hot today at 92 degrees, and with strong sunlight it was very hot in the sun. Even sitting in the shade was not enjoyable even with the breeze. As afternoon progressed the temperature started to drop...and by 8pm it was a cooler breeze and 75 degrees. Mother nature was making enduring the hot day all worth while. I was sitting outside contemplating the meaning of life... no, not really... simply enjoying dusk and the cooler breeze. Not a thought or care in the world.  By 9pm, nature provided the perfect evening at 72 degrees.... and a wonderful show of fireflies... as a kid we called the lightin bugs. A peaceful quiet setting... the frogs are starting to croak... the wind chimes gently tingling... and even the crickets are adding to ambiance of a wonderful evening. And sound of the wind rustling through the tops of the trees.  Kinda paints a nice picture if you will. What can I say... priceless. There's even the fresh scent of honeysuckle in the air. Hoping y'all had a great day too.

Baseball

Take me out to the ball game...
Generally... I hate going into the city... I hate crowds... and its too much walking with my knees ( one in recovery, one bone on bone). But... sometimes its worth it all to go to Camden Yards to see the Orioles. And... get Boog's BBQ. The thrill of the baseball crowd, the cheers, and thrill of a potential win... and the reality of yet another loss. But there's always Boog's BBQ.

Pirate Corn

I heard a joke years ago about "pirate corn". Came to mind this week when I saw a pre-shucked package of corn, cello wrapped in a tray (like meat packaging). The cost... 5 ears for 5 dollars. Yep "pirate corn"... how do I know?  You should have guessed now... because it was Buccaneer corn. I know... I shouldn't say any more... besides the fact that at a buck an ear... this was piracy.

Religious Choices

Religious choices? Why is it that those that seek religious choices always seek to take away the choices of others. Time and time again... Relentlessly ... Religions are always activity seeking to force their beliefs upon others.  Want to know why so many people resent religions? Because they simply can not live & and let live, they want to control others freedoms. Is that the definition of hypocrites?  Religions shout from the top of their mountain about their rights and freedoms, yet always seek to take away the freedoms and rights of others that don't believe as they do. Separation of church & state is a myth... religions are always trying to control politics & government as a means to control others to conform to their beliefs. Religion simply can not enjoy their freedoms, but seek to take others freedoms away. Nothing new, its been centuries of religions wanting to control everything. The world has been a war over religions for thousands of years... why? Because they simply can not condone others that want to enjoy their freedoms with different beliefs. Millions have died in the name of religions. Today... the christian religions don't kill anymore, they seek to control others...completely... forcing their beliefs on others and violating everyone elses freedoms. Resentment, social division, civic unrest, prejudice, and hatred all resulting from religious convictions wanting to control everyone. So what's the source of all evil over the centuries? We all have our ideas. The self righteous see no harm in wanting to control others so long as their freedoms are solidified... Taking away the freedoms of others is viewed as righteous and for the greater good. Just wish that the freedoms that religions enjoy was good for everyone, and not just them. So what bring this up today? The latest religious attack to others freedoms... abortions. Live your life by your convictions... stop forcing others to live by your religious beliefs. Freedom of religion also means everyone's right to freedom from religions. If this offense you... then you are certainly part of the problem is society today.

New catagory

Thinking of starting a new category with the  "label" of... "Have they lost their minds"!
Note: the older you get, the easier it is to find things that you would consider belonging to this category. And... Since Disney is my interests... It's easy to find things that fit into this category (label). So while others may not think twice about it... It hits me right in my face... "have they lost their minds". I abandoned my first thought of calling it "you've got to be shitting me"... but opted for the latter.
Just some of the price increases this year.  A plain Mickey ice cream... $5.75.

Disney Skyway...

There's lots to talk about at Disney. Mostly new attractions or improvements. There's a lot of good that come with hefty price tags.. paid for by what is charged to the guests. Lots of improvements... lots of price increases across the spectrum of anything you do at Disney. The new skyliner is gonna be really nice between certain resorts and certain parks. They certainly seem speedy, and they certainly look nice with the themed characters. What is uncertain is how hot will they get in the Florida sun?  There's is no a/c... only the louvered vents at the top on each side of the gondola to allow air flow. Shared from one of my favorite Facebook Disney sites.
Only time will tell.

Disney on the go...

Disney food on the go...
Hot dog, soda, & donut... $22.50 + tax
Family of 4 ... $100 for a quick lunch.
Two extra credit cards... Priceless!

Disney Magic

Disney Magic at their Resorts.
Disney Magic at the newly remodeled Pop Century Resort Rooms... The magic? How your money disappeared to get this room.
Disney Magic at Port Orleans Riverside... for a mere couple hundred dollars per night... "Magic". Now this is a room to come home to after a day in the parks.

Stuffed...

New stuffed animal plush of Dumbo at Disney. I know the older you get, the more you find yourself thinking... "you have got to be shitting me". Wow... $75 for a small plush. I know its made by a collectable company... but $75. Blows my mind.

Mankind divided

Mankind divided. If in fact that God, or gods, returned from the heavens to see how mankind has evolved... they would certainly see a lot of failures. In that religious, political, and social divisions create everything negative about what we think is the lofty ideas of what humans aspire to be.
The list....
* All the different religions in the world with all their different beliefs.
* Political differences inspired by power and greed.
* Individuals driven by power and greed.
* Social & cultural differences that don't tolerate each other.
* Inability to live & let live.
* Inability to simply agree to disagree.
* The need to force your beliefs upon others.
* Criminal deviants that prey on society.
* Corruption in business & government.
* Sociopaths with no regard for human life.
* Those forcing their version of morality and beliefs upon others.
So how would God or the Gods see humans as anything but a failed experiment... or at least in part. Who is worth saving? What would and should be done with the rest?
And if viewed as a whole...are we a species worth saving? Probably not.
Question... what will save humanity? Religion? The world wide track record over the centuries would indicate that religions have proven themselves to blame for a good portion of the worlds problems. Millions have died in the name of religions... there are no exceptions.  Power, greed, and corruption complete the picture. Criminals add to the downfall of the human experiment. War is a ongoing nature of human development.
It's been theorized that there has been several extensions of human evolution over the eons. Extensions by nature or gods to cleanse the previous versions of mankind, making room for the new and improved versions as it were.
New and improved versions... entirely questionable.
Yet for the most part, mankind remains divided in every aspect of existence.
By any standards... Failing as a species.
So, what will be the next evolution of mankind? And,  will we be around to see it?
Or will the current failed version be cleansed to make way for the next version of human development?
So much for the reality check.

Fading away

Fading away. And getting older... by the minute. Rving friends from the past 16 years are slowly and increasingly fading away. Some have passed away, and the rest are scattered to the wind across the country. Scattered into new lives, new priorities, new life situations. New situations that put their new life to the forefront... and past relationships from rving years are slipping into the realm of past memories. As time passes, memories become more distant. We all drift more and more apart as our new day to day life fills our day & thoughts. In no small part, Facebook loosing its appeal to many, has diminished the most easy way of keeping in touch. I'm not much for phone calls which adds to the situation. Do people still write letters? Even to some degree, family drifts away, wrapped up in their everyday... day to day life. I guess its only natural to sometimes feel disconnected from those that were once close. Now, somewhat isolated.... loosing touch. I guess this is even more progressive the older you get. Connections with others fade ... Memories fade... physical &  emotional isolation increases. Even the desire to be as social as you once were, decreases. And it doesn't even seem to bother you until you look back to think about what is gone... As if its a natural part of getting old... and you are powerless to change what is happening. So where is all this leading? Idoeno... The inevitable.  Strong self worth and independence of mind keeps me above board... but reality of it all does come with some concerns for the future.
Thank goodness for good health and a clear mind. But I have noticed its very easy to get side tracked... oh look... squirrel. What was I saying? On the plus side... nature has become more enjoyable and relaxing. Y'all have a good day. Enjoy the coffee... and throw away that sugar free bran muffin. Oh look, chocolate!
Should I shout... "hello"... or "hey, I'm still alive"? Perhaps I've got too much time on my hands... or have gotten too complacent. So its on me too. Watching the birds has gotten to be too much of a past time. The to do list keeps getting longer because... There's always tomorrow,  or next week, or next month. Think I'll have another coffee and enjoy the breeze... ahhhhh. I feel better now. Didn't truly solve anything today... except to elevate my emotional wellbeing. Is it nap time yet? Later!
Again... Y'all have a great day. Oh look... another squirrel.

Electronics...

Electronics in the modern age of instant communication and social media.
I see people... friends ... and family... talking about how they miss the old ties that bound together friends and family. The togetherness and personal interactions that were the defining aspects of their relationships. So why are they fading away?
I remember being at a family get together.... 7 adults and 3 kids. 5 adults and 3 kids were engrossed in social media and the internet, much to the exclusion of family interaction. This happens all too often. So not only are we loosing meaningful interactions with family and friends, but social interactions with anyone.  Teenagers are spell bound to electronic social media to the point when they are not developing skills to interact with others face to face. Plus no one can simply agree to disagree... bring social media to a test of wills, a never ending debate of who's right. Add to this the fact that too many people have become too political on social media. More than half of their posts are political oriented... All negative in aspect. Does anyone really enjoy seeing political crap from family & friends when it's in our face on every news broadcast, and every talk show, and even creeping into tv shows? Plus political ads and business advertisements flood social media making it even more resentful. Then there's the bombardment of "shares" on Facebook that dominate, virtually eliminating personal interaction of what you are doing, how you are doing, and what makes you happy.
Social media is but a shell, an ever increasing small aspect,  all but eliminating personal content. Once a great platform to stay in touch with friends and family... Now a forum for almost everything but personal content. Truly a shame. Maybe its just me. Maybe I'm too old and set in my ways... but I just don't see the benefit of having to endure negative political crap or having my news feed blown up with  "shares"  to have 10% meaningful interactions. But, it is what it is.  So I weed through it all to see the personal interactions of what you like, what's happening in your life, and the joys of your adventures. So that's my little rant of the day. Not try to tell you what to think... but simply to think. Y'all have a great day.

Mountain time

So... Who wants to go?  Beautiful daytime views... Breathtaking sunsets... and spectacular star show at night. Shenandoah National Park on Skyline Drive. Miss the beach? Not so much!

Meat...

Meat... It's what's for dinner... lunch and breakfast too... and makes great snacks in between. I don't know about you,  but I always new I felt better when eating meat! Some perhaps would say shame on me... Well... I didn't care then, and I don't care now. And now we have scientific proof as to why meat eaters feel better. And are healthier. Go figure. Bon appetit!
