Social activists today have more power and influence over the masses than ever before in history. There has always been powerful people, powerful leaders, and powerful conquerors that have used the power of communication to influence and control the masses via ,for lack of a better word, propaganda. The spoken word, the written word, radio, television, and today's social media gives those mongering for power and control, advancing their hidden agendas, great influence to use emotionally charged issues to compel the masses to think as they do, and act out with boycotts, demonstrations, and protests. All designed to not only control the thoughts and beliefs of people, but to ever influence more and more people to join them. Clever propaganda to increasingly influence hundreds, than thousands, and perhaps millions to a single minded train of thought. Not only are the masses encouraged to unquestioning beliefs, but to act on them, forcing others to conform to their beliefs. Controlling their thoughts, they are brought to the believe that they are not only right, but if you don't share the same views that you are wrong. Anything that is not in accordance with their beliefs is deemed to be offensive. Any thing that offends them gives them the self righteous justification to not only protest and demonstrate, but use violence to force their beliefs upon others. The news media of today are either unknowing participants in spreading and perpetuating propaganda from multiple entities and their agendas, or knowingly and actively supporting and promoting agendas via the super charged emotional psyche of people, knowing that emotionally charged issues negates rational thinking, and advances their control of the masses. Why does the news media participate? Either they share the agenda, or simply have their own... social unrest is news... emotionally charged protests and violence is even bigger news. Then there's all the political agendas that not only seek to further their beliefs, but seek to sensationalize other news stories to divert attention away from themselves. Like a good magician, draw attention to one thing, making the deception unnoticed. The masses are continuously being conditioned to be emotional over hot social issues thus preventing rational thinking and reasoning. The masses are driven by emotions and easily influenced. In addition to current issues, the media will also emphasize social injustice eliciting emotional responses, from past social history going back 100 to 200 years ago. So there is no shortage of emotionally charged issues. People being emotionally led like sheep to some one elses beliefs. A dilemma facing society today. The solution? There is none, until we as a rational society stop giving credence to the irrational emotional forces that plague our society.
