Nighttime parades at Magic Kingdom. Years ago there was the Electrical Light Parade. It was nice, but from some reason it was never a favorite of mine. Later came SpectroMagic Nighttime Parade. Wow... It always blew me away every time we watched it. How many times? Perhaps more than 40- 50 times with family, friends, of simply by ourselves. We were at Disney generally about 4-5 months a year from 2004 - 2011, as seasonal cast members. SpectroMagic was full of energy with bold music, millions of lights, and was over the top fun with sensory overload with sight, sound, and sheer enjoyment. But like everything at Disney, things change over time, and SpectroMagic gave way to the revived Electrical Light Parade. The excitement level pretty much hit bottom for me. For those that had never seen the Electrical Light Parade before I'm sure that they enjoyed it, but nevertheless for me, it seemed old and stale. Of recent years, there is no nighttime parade which is certainly a let down. Having been there for 8 years during the best of times, I can't imagine the let down of no nighttime parade. There are always changes, attractions and shows come and go, but in this case, you pay more to go to Disney and definitely get less. Certainly miss SpectroMagic. You can see video of the parade via YouTube. But nothing can convey the excitement of having actually experienced it in person. Perhaps some day it will return.
