Fun reading

Interesting reading.... A Walk in the Woods. Living near Shenandoah National Park in Virginia,  I've been able to enjoy the park, its wonderful views, and been able to walk part of the Appalachian Trail. I say walk because to say hiking entails much more than a short walk of a mere few hours. But no matter how short a walk, its always wonderful to experience and enjoy unspoiled nature in the relative safety of the A.T. in the park. We've all had lofty dreams or romanticized of doing something monumental,  but actually only experience it in some small part...  and that's how its been for me on the A.T. Hiking the trail in any length of measure, would certainly be a memorable experience. For those of us intrigued by the experience,  yet unable to do it ourselves,  we can enjoy the account of someone elses experience.  A Walk in the Woods for me was entertaining and enlightening.  Insight to the highs and lows of preparing for, and walking the trail. Filled with lots of insights tempered with historical information as well as some humor. I have the audio book that was actually read by Bill Bryson, so listening to the  author, hearing the inflections in his voice, its almost like body language that adds to the narrative, bring the adventure to life. So if you ever were intrigued by a nature hike, enjoying and experiencing nature at its best, you will enjoy reading this book.
