It’s not my fault!

[DEAR DIARY: I ENCOUNERED PERFECT BEINGS TODAY]

car (17) It’s not my fault! It’s not the most common phrase, but it is the most common concept for the way that too many people act. I guess if people were to even utter those words it might make then think about what they are actually saying. Today’s society seems to be spawning an ever increasing amount of people that simply can do no wrong. They have gone way past the stage if saying… “It’s not my fault”…  and elevated themselves to a position of “perfection”. They can not conceive that they could be wrong, or done something to put them into the position where they don’t get what they expected. They neglect to do something (plan ahead), don’t have the outcome they expected… and then want to blame anyone or everyone for their own nearsightedness or negligence. They can’t be to blame, they are “perfect” and never wrong. I must bow to their status of being “perfect”… and that everyone else is to blame for anything negative in their life… and yes, I’m being totally sarcastic.

Now there’s two ways to look at this. One, you are like me and realize that there is no one that is perfect, and we all make mistakes, forget things, or have a dumb moment where we do something stupid… but we can see that the fault lies in us, and not others. Or Two, you have in some degree, have a “Perfection Complex” that makes you feel that you are never wrong and someone else is always to blame for your lot in life and negative situation that you find yourself in. The “Perfection Complex” seems to be a self feeding ever growing attitude that builds on it’s self until it reaches a god like status… “I am right and everyone else is wrong”. If you find yourself heading down this path… Stop… really think about it… accept the fact that you as well as all your family, friends, and everyone else is only human… we all makes mistakes, and we all should accept responsibility for their own actions. If you can’t do this you will face a lifetime of aggravation… caused by your own perfection issues and face the rejection of others that you unjustly blame… Of course, if you are so far gone down this path and perceive yourself as “perfect”… well, you won’t see this anyway, and face a lifetime of disappointment and aggravation at your own hands. Which in some small part… okay, a very large part, gives the rest of us great relief to know that you make your own life miserable, every moment of every day.

We met a lot of people working here at the campground and seen a lot of situations, and heard or met too many people that have “Perfection Issues”. Here’s a few that seem to always come up. Depending which side of the issue you see as being “right” may indicate what like of person you are.

All the following statements conclude that the management, staff, policies and rules are unfair, and the failure for them, as customers, getting what they want, means that everyone is rude, unprofessional, and uncaring as to their needs or wants… regardless of the situation (after all, they pay our wages)… and they should be above any rules, policies, and should always… yes, always… get what they want… because they are right… regardless of anyone else, customer or staff… and they should be an exception… put above all else and others.

  • I didn’t get the cabin or site I wanted. [They failed to book early enough to get what they wanted]
  • All the golf carts were rented before I got here. [They failed to read notices and book early]
  • The safety rules about campfires should apply to me. [They are told, plus signs, and are no exception]
  • The safety rules for golf carts shouldn’t apply to me. [No, you can drive reckless and endanger others]
  • The safety rules at the pool shouldn’t apply to me. [It’s for you kids safety and others]
  • Why can’t you start the movie over again, I’m only 20 minutes late. [We have a schedule for everyone’s benefit]
  • Why do I have to follow a schedule. [You don’t… but you will miss out on things]
  • A light bulb burnt out in my cabin, I want a discount. [The something for free mentality]
  • The rain ruined my weekend, I want a refund. [Mother nature]
  • I didn’t sign up early, why can’t I still participate. [sorry, ya missed it, gotta read the schedule]
  • Why are there so many rules. [Safety and so things run smoothly]
  • Why are you harassing me about everything. [repeated reminders for not following the rules for safety]
  • I didn’t know this wasn’t allowed. [yes you do in reality… broke the rules and got caught]
  • Why do I have to wear an armband. [So we know you belong here… everyone where’s a band]
  • Why can’t I have another chance [as in… above the two or three you’ve already gotten and did not heed]
  • Why are you taking my golf cart [severe safety violations, of which you were informed]
  • Why are you charging me for damage to the golf cart. [because you are responsible for your own negligence]
  • Quite time shouldn’t apply to us. [Sorry, yes it does, as a consideration to everyone else]
  • We paid a lot of money to be here. [but it doesn’t change the safety rules or change policy]
  • I pay your salary, you should do what I want. [Sorry, it doesn’t work that way… rules, policy, schedules]

The list could go on and on… but I’m sure everyone gets the picture.

This may be a way of life for some of the rich and famous. Money, as in super rich, buys anything including the indulgence of god like perfection issues. It buys the bow down, kiss my feet, cater to my every whim attitude. $39 a night in a campground… well… they have the wrong attitude, not to mention checkbook, to expect that the world is going to bow at their feet.

Well, that’s my little bit of “emotional release” to “slough off” the ill effects of those that perceive themselves with god like grandeur. And yes, I find great comfort that they make for themselves, a life of misery and aggravation. So if you are among the 90 some percent that accepts responsibility for your own actions… this too may bring a bit of comfort to you. If you are among the 10 percent or so… then you justifiably reap what you sow…  and the rest of us have no sympathy or compassion for you. While I seldom write with the intention to offend anyone, this is one of those cases where if the shoe fits, wear it with the misery that you inflict on others… you deserve it. But in reality… if you are one of those with perfection issues, you probably would never read this… and if you did, you probably wouldn’t realize that this applied to you. But just saying all this just makes me feel better… and maybe a few of the 90%ers too.

Time Stands Still…

Unusual things happen when you simply stare at the night sky…

the moon and the stars.

z20110328 (32)

Clear your mind, and take it all in… the vastness of the sky… all those stars. Exactly the same sky that mankind has gazed at for thousands of years. We all witness the same thing… have the same experience. So what do you feel? What thoughts run through your mind? No doubt the same things that have occupied the minds of man since time began. Time stands still, yet spans thousands of years. Our lives change fast… the Earth changes extremely slow… and the heavens are seemingly endless and never changing.  Are you standing at the same space as someone else did one hundred or even a thousands of years ago… and yet you are exactly seeing the same unchanging universe… the heavens and stars… just as they saw them. Kind of a kindred spirit separated by the sands of time… perhaps a bit of a chilling experience. So does time stand still… by the standards of the universe… it may certainly appear that way… endless and timeless. What would it be like if Einstein was right… time bends in space… and in theory, travel to a time in the past could be possible. Looking to the night sky certainly makes the possibilities seem … well… possible. In any event… looking into the night sky certainly evokes possibilities… no matter how seemingly unlikely. Just something to think about… the next time you stare at the night sky.

Wind Power

Just a quick little entry… on the way to Corpus Christi Texas, we came upon a land mass near the waters of the Gulf that literally had hundreds on turbine windmills. I’ve seen them on Tv and Movies, but never in person. Bigger than life, majestic, large sweeping propeller arms moving in the wind… they stand like silent giants.

DSCN8896

Quite the sight to see. The pedestals reach to about 220 feet high and the arms of the propellers span over 100 feet in length each. Certainly quite the sight to see. In the low laying flatlands near the Gulf, the winds are almost constant making this a ideal location to generate electricity form the wind.

To Your Health…

No… it’s not a toast… maybe just a nudge to eating better, feeling better, and looking better. It’s never too late… well, maybe a little late if you’re over 50… but it surely can’t hurt. No great revelations, just a common sense approach to being a bit healthier.

You probably already know this… but maybe not…

Here’s some foods to help…

Just add a little butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans…

I know, on the health meter sweet potato +2

butter, sugar, etc =   - 5

1

Little lemon pepper and hot off the grill… yummy

great anytime…. meals or snacks

Great with a meal, salads, or snacks

Gee… all my favorite foods.

So why wait for New Years to resolve to eat healthier…

Disclaimer:

Eat better, feel better, look better…

The benefits for feeling and looking better diminish in direct proportion to the increase in age. Another words… it’s not a miracle… the aches and pains will still be there but hopefully a bit less… looking better, well, maybe a bit, but again 30 something is gone forever. Healthier diet to help you live longer… Start Now! … Right now!

We’d still like to have some old, older friends for a long time.

Someday I’m looking forward to being 80 something… still alive and kicking…

giving advise that won’t be taken…

adding to my blog no doubt by then with some kind of telepathy.

( no need to type anymore)

Lets see, another 30 some years, times 200 entries per year,

that’s somewhere around 6,000 entries.

Wow… that’s worth a book or two.

Happy Reading.

Hope to seeya around 2040 something.

If the world doesn’t end first… but that’s another story.

So, how do you want to be remembered?

First off… Happy Halloween…

oct194

Sometimes life catches you by surprise. You go along doing your own thing, having fun, and every once in a while you stop to think… how will I be remembered? This thought crosses your mind particularly as you get older… and you see more and more friends your age or a bit older passing away. I think about it every so often. How will I be remembered… what will family and friends think of me and my life after I’m gone. Maybe everyone thinks about this too. Well, at least while you are still among the living you can do something to change or enhance what they think of you. The flip side of the question… “How” will you be remembered is perhaps not as much as in “What” they will remember… but maybe really how… as in what method. Just playing, without thinking about it too much, I accessed my blog to see that I had over 600 entries. Wow. Even more surprising that I had not only more “views” or “hits” than I would have imagined, but also world wide hits. Double Wow. So maybe the “how” will I be remembered is not only in “what” they will remember, but in the method to be remembered. If you’re not famous, it’s usually simply family info passed down to, from, and by your family and friends. Or a grave marker. Both fade into the forgotten past rather quickly. Then there’s this modern marvel… the internet and the “Blog”. Perhaps for normal people, this may be a way to have not only a few moments of fame now… but maybe a few more remembrances after you are gone. Perhaps with a bit more insight to the real you beyond what might be passed down or engraved in stone. An little more insight into your day to day life, your sense of humor, your beliefs and feelings… all right there in your “blog”… for family, for friends, or for that matter, the whole world to see. You own life’s story, or just a part of it… the bits of pieces of memories that make up you. What you loved and cherished most in life. Bits of wisdom that may comfort and help someone get through a bad time. Something a bit more accessible and remembered then a few words spoken at a wake or carved onto a stone that will soon be lost to time. My outlook or hope for all of this? I knew very little about most of my family beyond my parents. Grandparents only bits and pieces… nothing about who they really were as people… how they lived… their thoughts and feelings. Seems like such a waste not to know these things. I do believe there’s in some degree a genetic disposition for personal taints and personality inherently passed down to later generations. In some way there’s a bit of my parents and grandparents, beyond that of physical contact learning, that contribute to personality and disposition. It would have been nice to see that connection between me, my parents, grandparents, and so on. And if nothing more, simply know more about them and their life. Never in the recorded history of time, has the normal everyday person had more ability to communicate to others, and communicate beyond their death then by the written word, electronically preserved on the internet [ a blog ], for everyone to see, forever. Should something unforeseen happen before I’m ready, it’s a comforting thought that my grandkids (or beyond), when they are older, might question and understand better, all that was me. So that’s one of the reasons why I write in my blog. It started as something small… a simple way to share with family and friends… and now perhaps more importantly… something a bit more profound… a somewhat detailed remembrance of what was me. Wow… there’s a pause for a serious thought. Yep, we’re all mortal, and I’m sure we’d all like to be remembered, so that we are not a fast fading memory that is gone after a generation or two. Wouldn’t it be something to have your great great grandkids (or beyond) be able to read your words, know your thought’s, experience in some small way your feelings about life… and perhaps guide them or help them be a better person, a more happy person, or just have a better sense of family history. Someday they may just question how I lived and who I was… and they will be able to, at least in some small way, get some of those answers. Guess we all want to be remembered… and a few forgotten words and a grave marker doesn’t leave much behind. I certainly would be delighted and spellbound to know the life experiences of my family’s generations that came before me. So as I said, that’s one of the reasons I blog. Family history and information passed down by word of mouth fades fast, personal journals and writings are lost or turn to dust… perhaps electronic preservation will not only survive the test of time, but be ever so much more inclusive as to how someone really lived, how they felt, what they experienced, what they believed… and as a part of you… will live on forever.

Well, that’s takes care of my serious moment for the month, and then some. Just something to think about. So how will you be remembered? There’s two parts to that story. Those that you share life with right now, and those those beyond your lifetime. Right now, you can do good and memorable things with family and friends to share with them now, and be fondly remembered should you depart this Earth before them. And part two… leave behind accessibility to information (a blog) so that someone can know about you after current memory fades into the past. Maybe gone, maybe somewhat forgotten over time, but something will still remain to tell your story. Be a positive or comforting influence on someone… one could only hope. Have someone be interested about you as a person and how you lived… a comforting thought to me. For now… I’ll just continue on my merry way… knowing that family and friends can read my blog and perhaps bring a smile to their face. Trigger a happy thought of time we shared together. Recall a past memory to keep it alive. Or simply to let them now that I was thinking of them… and now they of me… and to share a bond over the miles, and over time.

Ya just never know all the possibilities… or who you might touch with a thought…  spark an imagination… or inspire to be a better person… or just give them a smile in the middle of their day. Ya just never know.

I was surprised to see so many people reading my blog… wow… and that’s a delight and comfort to me.

aaa I “goggled”… “RvKamping” and got pages and pages of results on just some of my entries… wow.

GOLDEN YEARS

G  Go to the Doctor much more often (not necessarily a bad thing)

O  Oh,  who are you again? (sometimes a good thing)

L – Limp… yep… definitely walking with a limp (hopefully not too often)

D – Deaf? … Only selectively (conveniently a good thing)

E -  Exercise is merely a train of thought (but still makes you feel good anyway)

N – Naps! Now a welcome thing. (kids didn’t know how good they had it)

Y – Yes, Okay… is the easiest answer, then do what you want anyway. (yes!)

E – Early to Bed has nothing to do with being wise. (and not merely a choice anymore)

A – Aches… it’s how you know you’re still alive (but reminded a bit too often)

R – Remembering Stuff…. I don’t think so! (again… selectively… but don’t tell the wife)

S – Seriously? … Being serious …It’s a thing of the past! (part of the second childhood)

Quote: All Good things come to those that wait. Depending on your perspective and outlook on life, this can be very true. I waited for the love of my life… and found her. I waited for joy of grandkids…. and have them. I waited for less serious lifestyle… and got it. I waited to be at peace with myself… and have it. I waited for more time to enjoy life…. and found it. I waited to do things that were important to me ( more than the 8x5x365x30 years of work ) than just working to pay bills… and got it. I waited to travel more and make new friends… and got it. I waited to win the lottery… okay… still waiting for that one. But, you see, it can be true, All good things do come to those that wait… and maybe plan for it a little. Dreams do come true, and there are happy endings. Second childhoods really happen. Not much is worth getting upset or worrying over… maybe that’s the “wise” thing coming into play. So you see, it’s all good. Some of the aches don’t seem so bad anymore…. [ relaxing sigh ] ….  [moved knee] ouch… that hurt! … And just maybe… a wiser outlook on life… is the key to living a bit longer. Less stress and more inner “peace”. Have a Good Day!  Guess I’ll have to exercise that knee. Yes, Okay!

Disney World 40th Anniversary

Disney World in Florida celebrates another milestone anniversary… 40 years. I was there when Disney World opened. There for the 20th anniversary. There for the 25th anniversary. And there for the 35th anniversary as a cast member. It all started with one man’s dream, and even though Walt never got to see that dream realized, he had enough dreams to inspire generations. All of Walt’s dreams and imagination is still inspiring the those that would continue Walt he started. I’m sure that even Walt would be impressed the progress of all those that carried on with his dreams. Here’s some pics and a timeline of Dreams come true.

Yogi’s Haunted House

Halloween at Yogi. Six fun filled weekends of Halloween Tricks, Treats, and Scares! It all starts on Fridays with the Halloween Dance Party at the Yogi Stage and the nightly outdoor movie. They set the tone for the and the mood for the weekend. Saturday is the big day. There’s always the Bear met & greets with either Yogi, Cindy, or BooBoo starting with the pledge to the flag in the morning. The Craft Center opens at 10 am for T-Shirt painting and ceramics all with a Halloween flair. All the games begin too… the coloring contest, Yogi Scavenger hunt, Ranger Smith I Spy Game, Cindy Photo Game, and the BooBoo Guessing game. Then it’s off to buy your pumpkin seeds, magic pumpkin seeds that the kids plant in the Magic Pumpkin Patch… Yogi makes an appearance with his magic wand to bless the seeds with his Magic Wand. Then the Hay Rides begin. Then off to other things of interest… the pools, splash zone, water slides, game room, petting coral, lake fishing, trail riding or hiking, or mini golf. The kids pick up their pumpkins at the patch that grew like magic, bring them to Crafts to paint or take them to their site to carve into cool Jack-o-lanterns. Somewhere in between all this they decorate their camping site or cabins for the best decorated site contest. There’s the Ice Cream Social just to give everyone a rest… the there’s the Halloween Costume Contest at Yogi’s stage. Trick or Treat takes over as everyone goes all over the park in costume. It all makes for a great evening as the sun sets and there are hundreds of kids in costume visiting all the decorated sites. Those of strong heart take the Hay Ride to the Trail of Terror and the Haunted House… certainly NOT for those that scare easy or might have nightmares.

Haunted House Jp

The scary sounds and screams from the Trail and House carry in the evening silence through out the camp. Those less prone to being scared go to the evening movie under the stars at the outdoor movie theater. The evening concludes at your campsite… ahhh… time to finally relax. Sunday morning starts off with a pancake breakfast and a last chance to do or finish up Halloween Ceramics or Halloween T-shirts… have a quick round of mini golf and take that last plunge into the pools or a trip down the waterslide or maybe some Tye-Dye T’s at Crafts.  By 12 noon, all it quiet… everyone has gone home. Time to cleanup the park and the cabins and reset the park for another fun filled weekend. Thank goodness for DVR’s… Sunday night is always Football Night. Just don’t tell me the scores ahead of time.

Yall enjoy your Halloween… we will… all six weeks of it!
