Birds of a Feather…

BIRDS (1) Birds of a Feather… when you have a little time to slow down from the hustle-bustle of the tourist induced “got to see everything… and miss a lot frenzy”… or just simply everyday life… you get to truly see up close and personal some of natures beauty. Being from the Mid-Atlantic region…BIRDS (3) and now being in Florida, the variety of birds that you can see is amazing. Most birds up north are basically small… lots of sparrows, blue jays, cardinals, blackbirds, gulls near the water, BIRDS (4)pigeons near the city’s, and some ducks in more wilder areas, and migrating geese in the fall. Strange… you always see great flocks of geese heading south for the winter… but never see them heading north…BIRDS (5) sneaky birds indeed. Anyway… the birds here in south Florida are generally bigger… much bigger, and their presence is generally a lot more oblivious. Get out a little away from the urban areas and the birds are big, they are everywhere, and they are in large groups. BIRDS (6) Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Ibis’s, Sand Hill Cranes, Spoonbills, Bitterns, Limpkins, Sandpipers, Doves, Crackles, Anhingas, Cormorants, Gulls, Pelicans, Storks, Hawks, other Birds of Prey, Buzzards, and others yet to be identified by me. Venture into BIRDS (8) wilder areas and the nighttime roosting puts hundreds of birds… maybe even thousands by different types into the trees. Late sunset brings them all to roost and in large numbers. They are wonderful to watch, mostly indifferent & accustomed to people, and in some cases attracted BIRDS (9) to people because they are feed by people… which is not only against the law and sometimes harms the birds (inappropriate foods), but encourages birds to get too close to people and than there’s the unsightly mess they leave behind on walkways & tables. BIRDS (10) Those same people no doubt think it’s cute to also feed the gators. I’ve included some of my pictures in my other blog entries, but here’s a few more to help you enjoy their beauty… maybe with the exception of the buzzards… ugly! Sometimes being in BIRDS (13) the wild, seeing nature, and wildlife doing what they do, you have to get over that cute little duck scooting along the water that suddenly disappears courtesy of a gator… shame those ugly buzzards are so smart… but than again… I’ve never seen buzzard on a menu (duck-ala-orange).BIRDS (2) I think I’ll simply stick to chickens & turkey. Enjoy the pictures… there’s thousands more where these came from. You can click on most pictures to enlarge… than arrow back to the blog.
BIRDS (7)
I’ll let you determine which birds are which… that’s part of the fun… but if you get stuck… just drop me a line… I be glad to play the “I Don’t Know Game”.
IMG_1099 These birds are great at catching fish and are so intense while looking for that certain little fishy.
Not to fear, someday I’ll get into…
My Fish Stories” ….. (lol)
There’s always something to write about…
especially when you have too much time on our hands!
and photo’s to inspire you! Later…….
