Learning about the habitat....
Sometimes a little learning is a dangerous thing... or at least, now it gives you something to worry about.
If you didn't know about it before, than you had no worries. Local habitat and wildlife. Southern Florida has many things to offer... scenic beauty being the front runner by far. Like all things of beauty... there's always the danger... mostly a small danger if you a aware of surroundings and at least have a little knowledgeable and are careful.
While the scenic beauty is easy to appreciate... that little voice [of knowledge] is always giving you reason to pause... look under that bush, or up in that tree. This entry is about dangerous things in the wild. While I'm sure I know very
little in the scheme of things, what I do know kinda makes me truly not want to know too much more. First there are the snakes. They say there are 5 poisonous types here in Florida.... one is too many for me. They say you will probably never see any.
This is a good feeling... at least until you actually do see one... than that false sense of security is gone forever. JUST REMEMBER... RED TOUCH YELLOW...KILL A FELLOW!
There are scorpions, strange bugs, poisonous salamanders & spiders, poisonous fish and other things in the water... and numerous other things that will simply just bite you. The feeling of uneasiness is heightened greater by all the wild and strange looking plants. Again, some have poison excretions (only to give you extreme rashes), some poison berries or seeds...
and some just look like they would just grab you if you got too close.... glad I have a telephoto lens. Some things are fun... like the small leaping lizards... some are not like the 4 foot spiny miniature Dino lizards that run by you fast on hot days... or fall out of the trees on cold days. Not to worry, they say they are harmless... just don't try to catch one... catch one.....DO I LOOK CRAZY?
All in all... a good experience... everything is new and different... even if a bit scary at times. They fact that every store you enter has snake bite kits prominently displayed... just a bit of over reaction.... I hope. Well... this concludes this segment on " Nothing Bothers Me". On to lighter topics later...
