The Rv Life for Me.....

Yo..ho, yo..ho... the Rv life for me,
We travel to see, new places to find,
up and down the coast,
we stay and we play, where ever we want,
the life we love the most,

Yo..ho, yo..ho, ... the Rv life for me,
We go here and there, up hill and down,
the beach is great to see,
we swim and we play all over the place,
now that's the life for me,

Yo..ho, yo..ho, the Rv life for me,
We go to the place, where magic abounds,
we love to see it all,
Pirates and ships, and Castle of stone,
and go to the Princesses ball,

Yo..ho, yo..ho, the Rv life of me,
We watch all the lights, that burst so bright,
up in the sky above,
we see all the shows, and eat all the food,
than soar in the sky like a dove,

Yo..ho, yo..ho, the Rv life for me,
Where dreams come true, through out the day,
the thrills are everywhere,
go up in the globe, the future to see,
or see a maiden so fair,

Yo..ho, yo..ho, the Rv life for me.

( yes I'm feeling better, and yes, I do have too much time on my hands)
to be continued....

Missing Old Friends & Family....

Missing Friends & Family
There's a lot to be said for a life on the road... new places to go and see, new places to discover, new foods, new customs, different cultures, and new people to meet. But you always hold in your heart friends & family that are not with you. So this is just a quick moment to reflect on those we miss the most. All of our family back in Maryland, West Virginia, Florida, and Italy. All of our friends that we consider family from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Florida. All of our Sunset King Friends, Legacy Friends, Outdoor World friends. Lots of good times, lots of great memories. Wish at least some of you could be here... the weather is great... but not truly complete without family & friends! Miss you all! We look at your pictures and think of you everyday!

A Trip to the Zoo

What a great day to get out. The weather has warmed up a bit ( just had cold spell) ... around 72 degrees today... so it's the perfect day to visit the Miami Metro Zoo. What a really nice place. The zoo is huge and a bit spread out... which may explain the hundreds of surrey bikes they have to rent. If you don't like or want to walk... the bikes are the answer... and at $22 / 2 hours it's a quick way to get around the park. Rent the bikes for 6 hours and that's only $66. Glad I like to walk... and for now, I have more time & energy than money. What ever preconceived notion I had about the Zoo was all wrong. I thought it would be good... but it was much, much, better than expected. The tickets are $30 for 2 people to get in for the day. After the first day visit, we ungraded to the annual pass for $64/couple. We liked it so much that we knew would revisit there at least 3-4 more times... plus we get discounts in the park... and 20% off other local attractions that we are planning on visiting. The Zoo was not very crowded Friday... some kids from schools... but the place is so huge, it seemed deserted. This is version of the Zoo's Monorail...it does the job... but it sure isn't a Mark VII ! Anyway...just us and the animals. Plenty of helpful, friendly staff everywhere. Since we spend a lot of time in Animal Kingdom, it was only natural to make comparison's. It is so nice to NOT being tossed side to side and all over the place while taking pictures of the animals. The Disney safari ride is great show... but not good for taking pictures. This was a walking tour, self guided, go where you want, stay as long as you like, and get great pictures. Most of the animals are more out in the open to see and get pics, but some must have had Disney training... as soon as you get there... and you go to take a picture... they turn their backside to you. Got to see a wider range of animals compared to Disney. I don't mind seeing snakes behind glass... thick glass. Most are easy to find, some haven't arrived yet... little signs tell you they are coming soon... and some are just empty... with NO SIGN. It's a bit more than scary to see the header sign for the "Bushmaster"... there's no where for him to hide... he's not in the display case... and there's no little sign saying he's moving in soon. SO WHERE IS HE ?? ...and when you look up inside the display case... you see the covered top pushed aside. It's time to go somewhere else...right now!!! Fake Snake... this is a fake coral snake... not poisonous... see, Red touch black... well, it does not matter to me... still not going near it. Did you know that they actually name the animals... so that when the staff are all looking for "Montego"... you think it's just another staff member... and not actually the most aggressive, poisonous snake in the world. Okay... enough about snakes. Shelly got to meet Diego!... can you say Buneous Diaz? [ hey... I have a hard enough time "speelling" in English!] .... more to follow....

Learning about the habitat....

Sometimes a little learning is a dangerous thing... or at least, now it gives you something to worry about. If you didn't know about it before, than you had no worries. Local habitat and wildlife. Southern Florida has many things to offer... scenic beauty being the front runner by far. Like all things of beauty... there's always the danger... mostly a small danger if you a aware of surroundings and at least have a little knowledgeable and are careful. While the scenic beauty is easy to appreciate... that little voice [of knowledge] is always giving you reason to pause... look under that bush, or up in that tree. This entry is about dangerous things in the wild. While I'm sure I know very little in the scheme of things, what I do know kinda makes me truly not want to know too much more. First there are the snakes. They say there are 5 poisonous types here in Florida.... one is too many for me. They say you will probably never see any. This is a good feeling... at least until you actually do see one... than that false sense of security is gone forever. JUST REMEMBER... RED TOUCH YELLOW...KILL A FELLOW! There are scorpions, strange bugs, poisonous salamanders & spiders, poisonous fish and other things in the water... and numerous other things that will simply just bite you. The feeling of uneasiness is heightened greater by all the wild and strange looking plants. Again, some have poison excretions (only to give you extreme rashes), some poison berries or seeds... and some just look like they would just grab you if you got too close.... glad I have a telephoto lens. Some things are fun... like the small leaping lizards... some are not like the 4 foot spiny miniature Dino lizards that run by you fast on hot days... or fall out of the trees on cold days. Not to worry, they say they are harmless... just don't try to catch one... catch one.....DO I LOOK CRAZY? All in all... a good experience... everything is new and different... even if a bit scary at times. They fact that every store you enter has snake bite kits prominently displayed... just a bit of over reaction.... I hope. Well... this concludes this segment on " Nothing Bothers Me". On to lighter topics later...

Can't wait for next year... and all the years to come after that! Now that it's all over for this year... we'll have to at least for one final game... root for another team....Go Cardinals!! Sorry... if you're from Baltimore... you just can not ever root for the Steelers... never!

Hurricane History....

Now here's a bit of Hurricane History... not everyone wants to forget and put the past behind them. While most scenes of destruction disappear over time... some are preserved as a memory to the past, as well as a testament to the imagination of those wanting to not only preserve but also render it once again functional. Here's majestic historical picturesque building, that after perhaps many decades of service, was toppled during a hurricane. Several unique factors were involved to create a quite unusual situation. The building was so well constructed that it remained entirely intact as it toppled, or as the onlookers claimed, just ever so slowly gently rolled over into the adjacent building. Both buildings sustained very little damage. To the surprise of many, engineers found that the buildings could easier and less expensively be altered and rendered useful once again and much cheaper than the removal and reconstruction of two new buildings. Since finances were the greater issue, the project was approved and you can see the results for yourself. Simply amazing! Believe It or Not!

National Security Alert!

NATIONAL SECURITY ALERT...…
With the outcome of last Sunday's clash with the Titans... a new National Threat Level has been established. The once standing levels of threats that went from Yellow to Red, indicating the highest level of threat, have been upgraded to show a now higher level. PURPLE is now to be considered the newest highest threat level. This new level was created in the aftermath of the recent Miami & Tennessee clashes over the past two Sundays. PURPLE offenses against these two cities have proven effective, and all attempts to be pro-active have been met with a devastating PURPLE defense. The threat is real... and Pittsburgh is the next target. This reporter has heard that there may be attempts by onlookers to wave black & yellow surrender flags... but it is not expected that any prisoners will be taken. Perhaps it should be noted that those terrible towels could be used for a additional purposes... they can help bind wounds and can certainly also be used as a crying towel. Will the PURPLE threat yet do in another city... only in the aftermath of this Sundays event will the truth be revealed. Perhaps we should all do well to indicated this new threat to everyone around us by waving a PURPLE flag this Sunday... get the news out for everyone to see. The Threat is Real!

AFC Playoff's Ravens vs Titans

AFC Play-off's Raven vs Titans... What a game. It was expected to be a good game from the start. I would have thought that Titans were favored to win.... and maybe they were. The pregame show had all 5 sportscasters picking the Ravens. Now that was a surprise. I'm sure the football gods of the NFL would liked to have seen the Ravens stopped long before now. It was a great game, and while it could be said without dispute that the Titans certainly shot themselves in the foot a time or two, or was that 5 or 6, the Ravens defense does have a way to make the offense seen to do just that... make mistakes. And now that we have a offense ourselves... it's nice to capitalize on those mistakes and win some games. The announcers were donning the Raven's as the team no one wants to play. Lots of good games and some one's got to win. Maybe its a little harder to loose to a team with a new head coach and a rookie quarterback. Speaking about the rookie.... How about Joe Flacco. I guess it was a good thing for Matt Ryan at Atlanta that the NFL purposely closed the book early and named Matt rookie of the year.... especially since the real rookie of the year has already won 2 post season playoff games and is still playing.... first rookie to ever do that.... as in never ever happened before. The Football Gods must be angered for sure by now.... what a shame. The Titans are a good team, they simply walked into a bad day. Most teams feel that the Ravens are a bad day. So it's on to next week, and the Steelers. No matter who wins, it should be a brutal game... lots of hard hits, lots of infractions dare I say, and hopefully, there will not be any bad calls that always seem to go against the Ravens. The last two games with the Steelers resulted in several wrong calls that went against the Ravens, even much to the surprise and controversy of the game announcers (via replay). I'm rather surprised that the NFL hasn't fined the announcers for questioning the calls via the replays...the announcers should not question the calls on the field... even if the multiple replays do support their position... never show the call to be wrong... the Gods don't like it when they are proven wrong! Sorry.... just a little scarasium. BUT it would be a real treat to watch a game where wrong calls did not come into question. and I'm sure, that if the worst should happen, that the Steelers would like to win a game without adding the stigma of cheating to their already questionable professional conduct. There is one out come that is for certain... the NFC teams are certainly counting on the Ravens and Steelers to beat each other up and make it easier for them in the Super Bowl.
