Columbus... the illusion of greatness. 

Given all the facts... why do we celebrate Columbus? 

He never set foot in America...his great discovery was islands in the Caribbean... And he thought that was the other side of the world... he thought he found India. His savage cruelty to indigenous people was deplorable. So much so that the King & Queen of Spain condemned him, and took his titles. Yet, the US still celebrates Columbus as a great man, a hero, and great discovered of America. The truth is shocking.
