Native Americans
Oops...
Now it indigenous people.
They gone from "Indians"... which was completely wrong due to Europeans thinks they sailed to India... so they called them Indians.
In more modern times they were referred to as Native Americans,
which I guess it didn't sit right with the powers to be... calling them "Americans"... clearly wasn't appropriate... so now its politically correct to use "indigenous peoples".
Notably... seldom by their tribal heritage names or Indian Nations.
Even by act of congress, the criteria for determining blood lines to be considered native americans, there's a minimum percentage. And through attrition as their blood lines mix with other ethnic groups... the recognition of native americans will disappear from recognized existence. Odd how that doesn't apply to any other ethnic group.
Just another political governmental discrimination / oppression against native americans.
History is recorded by the side that won.
Won the battle, won the ethnic war.
By the person actually recording history.
Influenced by public opinion...
and by the government...
and the rich and powerful.
All of which have a personal or political agenda.
Slanted in varying degrees to favor a perspective.
All of which relate a tainted story...
Or out right lies to condone & justify what
was done and make it seem morally righteous.
Such is American History.
But some things can not be explained away,
or covered up, or eradicated from history.
As much as history justifies events
for their own outcome...
Events and the atrocities perpetrated on
Native Americans can never be justified.
