October 31st

The joy of Halloween...
So,  what can we say about 2020? The year that not only needs to be over,  but soon forgotten.  There's always good to be found in almost everything, but 2020 is certainly over shadowed by so many negatives. One bright spot for me was Halloween.  One of my favorite times of the year. Decorations started going up in mid September, so there were six weeks of Halloween enjoyment,  a welcome distraction from the wows of 2020. Made even more tolerable if you stayed away from the news media.
Now, today is October 31st... Halloween. A mixture of all the good feelings and decorations, movies & posts... but an anti-climatic end. No party, no costumes, no trick or treating. And tomorrow, the decorations will be taken down put away. Add to this,  the weather has turned chilly during the day,  cold at night,  and the gloom of clouds and rain... well, not a very cheery outlook.  Now stuck indoors, cold,  wet,  damp, and less sunlight. Throw in self isolation due to Covid... well, very much looking forward to next spring. Meanwhile... months of too much nothingness.
Optimistically smiling to myself.

Happy Halloween

Halloween Eve

Halloween Eve... Sweet Dreams

Once in a Blue Moon...

Emotional Let down

Emotional let down? We're have enjoyed decorating and having all the decorations for the past few weeks. Halloween has always been the most fun seasonal holiday. Not much to begin seen locally... It's seems we were the only ones to go all out for Halloween decorations.  Hope everyone has enjoyed driving by the house.
The let down? Stores were very skimpy on Halloween decorations this year... Not much to choose from. Few people did any outside decorations at all.  And with Covid precautions, trick or treating and Halloween parties will be, and should be extremely limited or not happening at all. So enjoyment of personal decorations,  Halloween music,  and Halloween movies, campfires, and hot chocolate is all this year has to offer.  All in all,  we still enjoyed Halloween. Pass me another Milking Way that won't be given out to the kids. Oh look... Kit Kats. Yum.

Seasonal scents

Seasonal scents... enjoy all the different wonderful candle scents of the season... There's something for every mood.  Plus there's the calming effect of the clicking candle light.  Add to this the simmering pot of orange peels & cinnamon. I need to get more oranges.

Mystery

Watching a BBC made for TV series called Sherlock.
I generally don't care for British TV ( you probably understand why), but this has really turned out to be really good.  Some drama,  some mystery. And naturally some crime solving.  Thank you Netflix.

Panic in the streets...

October 1938... Halloween.
Radio was still a young media to which the entire country tuned in to get news and entertainment.  Like people use streaming and the internet today, radio was the primary source for keeping in touch with the world. People and  families would gather around the radio basically believing every story they heard.  On the fateful night on Halloween eve, the Mercury Theater on the Air presented a radio broadcast that seemed so real in its scope that people believed the reinactment of the novel War of the Worlds was true and actually happening.  Earth was being invaded by Martians destroying humanity. The national broadcast instilled fear and panic to a population that was yet to question what they were hearing.
Despite disclaimers, the live  reports of the show were accepted as real. Quite the Halloween hoax to perpratrate the intimate Halloween trick with no treats.
Happy Halloween.

Masks

Like everything... Like every issue of any kind... Wearing a mask after all these months is still any issue for some.  And the first thing they say is... "wearing a mask will not keep you from getting the virus". And you know what... THEY'RE RIGHT!
MASKS ARE TO KEEP THE WEARER FROM GETTING OTHER PEOPLE SICK. So if we all wear masks, we keep each other from getting sick. It's a simple concept for rational people.

****** Otherwise, not wearing a mask is an easy excuse for those that don't care about anyone else, just themselves. ******

Rationalize it any way you want... Masks, distancing, hand washing, and avoiding unnecessary outings is the best solution to limit exposure. No guarantees... just smart practices to greatly limit the risk to everyone. So what's to do? If you come across someone not wearing a mask... take yours off and cough in their direction. If they have a reaction... Cough some more. If they don't care to protect others,  why should I care to protect them. Oh... Offended are we?  Sucks doesn't it?
