Halloween Starts Early

Halloween.  Like most holidays,  its starting earlier and earlier every year. When I was young most holidays started just before the actual day. Christmas tradition was to decorate the house and tree just one week before Christmas... now everything starts going up before Thanksgiving ... and stuff is in the stores the stores by September. Halloween stuff is appearing in stores in early August. Halloween decorations go up at least by October 1st. Why so early? Businesses want to be the first to grab the sales. People want the enjoy the efforts of their decorations for long times since so much effort went into creating more elaborate and involved displays. Who wants to make all that effort for only a week or so... 4-6 weeks is much more worth while. Christmas up just after Thanksgiving... Halloween up no later than October 1st. And businesses start everything early.
To accommodate the larger crowds, and the demand, Disney is starting Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in August. 2 1/2 months of Halloween. 
I have to say... It's our favorite special event (special tickets) at Magic Kingdom. Disneys new summer event attraction "Villains after hours party" is a warm up for the Halloween party.  Both events are worth the extra cost not only in the special shows and presentations,  but the added bonus of greatly reduced crowds. Which makes most rides either walk-ons or very minimal wait times. Tip for Halloween party... go early, the last week of the party coming into Halloween is very crowded.
