Seriously?

Seriously? …
Seriously
ser
Wow… He might be right…
I did not think it meant what it really means.
Clearly… Inconceivable!
user40235_pic57645_1374596369
In any event…
Being too serious about things depends on a few things, or at least ultimately two things. How I meant it, or how I think I meant it… and how you perceive it in it’s meaning, or at least how I think you’ll perceive it’s meaning. Ya see, the entire thing gets more and more complicated when it really should be simple. In today’s world, everything is over complicated, over thought, over analyzed, and rationalized to arrive at all the possible conclusions to any given situation. In fact, many things are simply just what they are… very simple things… they should be kept simple! Uncomplicated… plain and simple.
Perception… now that’s another topic all together. What I meant, and what you think I meant usually is not the same thing. So your reaction to my actions, as you perceive it, may be contrary to my intended action, and thus my reaction to you is something less them you would expect. Thus perpetuating a greater misunderstanding between us which will in no doubt inevitably lead to a conflict that will escalate higher and higher until war breaks out and all hope of common ground is gone forever. And the battle of wits will begin. All I have to do is divine what I know about you to derive upon a course of action. You will become irrational, I will defend the process of logical thought and reasoning, and the battle of wills will ensue. This is truly becoming a exchange of wits that can only conclude in a victory for the most dizzying intellect. Of course, once we go down this path, the most important issue is to not only win… but let the other person think that they to have won… giving them a false sense of satisfaction.
Clearly… throw in a bit of sarcasm, irrational behavior, and hostile aggression, and we will be two steps from pushing the button to unleash nuclear Armageddon.  Has this gotten too serious for you? Gotten too far out of hand? Inconceivable!!??
Sometimes ya just need to keep it simply…. plain and simple. Don’t be coy… just say what you want in simple terms. Don’t try to be artsy fartsy nice… it only leads to misunderstandings… just say it simply.
Example: “I need some space”. Wrong, wrong, wrong! I don’t want you to comfort or console me. Ya just need to be clear… but you can still be polite… “please… just get away from me”… ( and if they have a puzzled look on their face)… “before I feel the need to hit you”. Plain and simple. But even this may be misunderstood. I didn’t say I was going to hit you… I said before I feel the need to hit you. I wouldn’t really do it ( I don’t think )… I might dream of doing it… want to do it… visualize doing it… and derive emotional satisfaction from thinking of doing it… but wouldn’t really do it… probably. See how things can get out of hand? Inconceivable!! Another example: “I need some quiet time” … it’s simply a round about way to say what you wish you want. Clearly this will not get the same effect and results as keeping it simple. “I want you to stop speaking… now… Please shut up”! See, clear and direct. You can still keep the thinking I’d like to hit you part… but perhaps it’s better not to say it… as least not right away.
All of this… seriously? Well, to quote Mr. Gump… “seriously is a seriously does”. Well… he would have said it if he had thought of it. But he lived his life without being too serious about things… plain and simple!
I could go on and on into this bit of falderal, but that might be too redundant… or would it? Are you still reading? … good. Here’s the final analysis:
In any event… If I appear to be too serious, Please do not think it’s an argument to convince you to my way of thinking. It could merely be my way to let off a little steam about something… so I can let to go… and get by it. You may want to do the same in response… but please, just let it go. You probably will have your own thoughts on the subject that would be completely different from mine. And that’s okay… it doesn’t bother me. And they would clearly be of no concern to me if you were not to mention them at all to me. See… simple. We can each have our own views without trying to convince each other who is right and who is wrong. So if you should ever feel that I am trying to impose my thoughts, beliefs, and convictions upon you (which I would never do) … even if you are wrong… (just kidding about the you being wrong thing… smiling to myself)… just ask yourself if you are taking any topic way too serious. Don’t take offence or go all defensive, and be too serious. Life is to short… and getting shorter by the year. Sometimes sooner… ya never know.
One final thought.  Over the top serious discussions are much like a chess match. Moves, counter moves, sacrifice a pawn or two, let someone think they are gaining the upper hand, trade lesser pieces for more valuable, lead them into a trap… check… checkmate. Someone wins, someone looses. End of the story? … nope… in reality… nobody wins ( or do I just want you to think that? … Idoeno ). Draw your own conclusions.
This should clearly make everything easier.
Don’t you feel better?
And… have a better understanding of things?
Well… I feel better!
Cat and mouse in a luxury old-fashioned roon
Okay… As you wish… I’ll stop here.
So… that’s all I have to say about that!
Congratulations for reading this to the end.
( I know… ya just couldn’t help yourself )

Why Blog?

Why Blog? … Who blogs?
What does it mean to blog?
Does blogging have a agenda or motive?
blog
Like anything else… it’s many things to many people. For me it started as a way to communicate with family and friends in a manner that I could do at my leisure, any time day or night… and others could read at their leisure. It became somewhat of a hobby, something to do to relax, something to fill the void of retirement, something to do in the early morning hours when I’m the only one awake. Ahhh, the topics… well… life is full of many things… funny, serious, informative… just about anything. So why should my blog be any different. I never know what might strike my interest, and you’ll never know what you might find on a blog. Motives or agendas? None that I’m aware of, other then to enjoy the lighter side of life and shy away from controversial issues. Aside from the occasional spoofing about mega serious issues in society that seem to be more or less a complete waste emotional and intellectual time. Most of my entries are far less serious. So, what do I like to blog about? Our life on the road… fulltime rving… our travels and our adventures. My interests, things that strike my fancy… things that amuse me. Entries that pass on information that I have compiled for 60 years. There’s the information that may prove useful to others… but my under lying intent is to mostly be amusing… bring a smile to your face and perhaps laugh or two. Sometimes, the intent is to merely suggest different possibilities about things that are widely accepted, but perhaps need to be given another thought… something to stop and think about, and examine your own thoughts on the subject. One unexpected evolution was the wide variance of readers. With the internet, blogs can virtually reach anyone around the world and reading about them, or them reading about you, lets each other know something about day to day life in different countries and cultures. Pretty cool when you think about it. Normal everyday life of the normal everyday person. Ya never know who might read what you write today, tomorrow, or even hundreds of years from now. The everyday person elevated from obscurity, perhaps not in the forefront, but not lost to history. Beyond two to three generations from the past, or into the future, little is known about most of us. Even prominent historical figures are mostly just know for the highlights of their life. As for me, I’m happy in the thought that grandchildren, and perhaps beyond, could someday wonder more about me, and look back and see me in a renewed light, when they are old enough to understand and appreciate a bit more insight into what was the personification of me.
why_blog_wordle
Well… that pretty much covers it. The topics, the why, the motivation, the reasons, the what you might expect to see on my blog. I am somewhat amazed at the amount of readers beyond family and friends, especially those around the world. I’m just an old retired guy, perhaps with too much time on my hands, having a hobby of writing in the quiet time of the morning. Hope you find something to make you smile or something to get you to think about things, perhaps with a different perspective. And as always… enjoy each of your days to the fullest.

Sometimes ya have to be on guard.

Sometimes ya just gotta be on guard…
okay…okay… maybe most of the time.
Ya just never know when a bit of sincere subtle sarcastic wit might be coming your way… but that’s just me. I have a couple approaches to telling the story.
sq550sc18f160
* Completely sincere honest upfront truth.
( now there’s a novel idea ! )
* “Right between the Eyes” sarcasm
( now that will make you stop & think )
* As well as the completely sincere subtle sarcastic approach… the preferred method.
Now sometimes this is not always the right approach… okay several reasons…
- they might not be too good with subtlety and they might actually agree with what they oppose…. frustrating.
- they may have to use a bit of brain power to understand my twisted humor…ahhhh
( this will keep their mind active & young )
- they may start to not believe anything I say
( the boy who cried wolf thing )
Telling the truth at this point may be futile.
But hopefully will have a good laugh!
In any event… hopefully it will all be taken as intended… a light hearted banter with no other intention except to amuse and get a laugh or two. Anything else would not in my nature. So if anyone misconstrues something or gets the wrong impression and gets offended… it’s not intentional… it’s just an attempt at humor gone amiss.
Now that this is out of the way…
kinda like a disclaimer in the fine print…
What story should I tell next…
Ya just never know…
and just thing about it…
There’s a reason they’re called “Stories”!
BTW… 95 % of the stuff on my blog is…
Completely sincere honest upfront truth.
and as Ripley says…
“Believe it or Not”
but not to worry…
5% to figure out isn’t so bad.

Internet Access

Just a little internet access insight… from where I’m sitting…. the cheap seats.
First there was Internet Explorer, and that was all we knew. Then as our computer got older, and the internet and Explorer got more complicated, the old Xp pc with outdated hardware (3 years old ) just wouldn’t work right. Connections were getting slower and slower and the blue screen was becoming a routine problem. Ahhh… an answer to our problems… Firefox. Worked like a charm! now more problems or the breaded “blue screen of death”. It always seemed that Microsoft/Internet Explorer was one, at odds with any other computer/program that wasn’t of Microsoft origin… and two, always seemed to develop ever increasing problems on your computer, thus prompting you to upgrade and buy another a new pc. The came the compatibility issues with some website that would only allow you access using Explorer… REALLY? !! During the Microsoft Vista issues and problems, we stayed with Xp. We still use Xp on our 6 year old computers. Now that the newer versions of Windows seem to have the problems and bugs worked out, most of the older programs developed for Xp do not work on the new Windows operating systems. Another compatibility issue… guess they want us to run out and buy all new computers and all new programs… go Microsoft! … yeah… not happening.
1175594_500052830071667_1315505477_n
Then along came “Chrome”… ahhh… the new kid on the block that was taunted to be a latest wonder! So we downloaded it and much to our surprise it worked beautiful. Not better then Firefox, but had more features. So while keeping Firefox on our pc’s, we started to use Chrome. As Chrome updated and developed new features it too became unstable with Xp… and we started to get the dreaded blue screen once again, and quite frequently. Apparently many users of the latest Windows systems have also had problems and have gone back to using Firefox.
So we quickly went back to using Firefox, and like magic, our good old Xp computer worked like a charm again. Amazing. I guess someday we’ll have to upgrade to a new windows pc to get the best performance on the internet, but we will probably keep chucking along with the good old Xp work all the programs that we have, which work perfectly on Xp.
Here’s a view of this past weeks results.
hjkhkhk
Keeping track on the percentages of people using Firefox verses Explorer and Chrome… well… it’s kinda of interesting. This week 63% of all access to my blog was via Firefox. Explorer was down to 13%, and Chrome that has steadily been in decline is down to 15%. And to think, Explorer once had nearly 100% usage, and Chrome when it first came out had got to over 50%, and is now at 15%.
Go Firefox!
It’s works great for me…
and many others too.

Funny how that works out…

Funny how that works out…
There are many places that are named after many things in “Nature”… Trees, plants, flowers, insects, and all kinds of animals to mention a few. Kitty Hawk North Carolina is no exception. Named after a local animal back in the late 1600’s. The Kittyhawk was found no where else in the world, and for many years now, thought to be extinct, recently re-discovered hunting along the sand dunes. To no surprise it hunts and eats fish and other small birds. Generally they will avoid human contact, but this is one Kitty you should try to feed or pet, it has very sharp claws & beak… and not exactly people friendly… the better to take a chunk out of you and look for more. For everyone that hasn’t ever seen a Kittyhawk before… here’s a photo of one. How would you like to walk around the corner and see this sitting on your table?

Think about it

My thought for the day: Small things that someone should be shot for:
Who ever decided that "Ph" should be pronounced as an "F'! ..."fone"!
The "C" and "K" redundancy! Please!
and why... why... do we have fourteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen... and not oneteen, twoteen, threeteen, fiveteen???? Why???
and then there's the "silent" letters that are not to be pronounced???
Silent letters... shoot them twice for this one!
I could go on and on... like a number system based on 12... really! Like 28/64 of an inch... shoot them three times
.
A friend commented: Sounds like to me he's had too much chocolate you must be on a sugar high.
My response: I think more clearly when overdosed on chocolate! Intellectual clarity and awareness increases exponentially with every ounce of chocolate consumed, squared by the rate of consumption in the shortest amount of time.
With a mere 97 more candy bars and I should reach Einstein levels.
C - chocolate, c - consumed, r -rate, t-time, B - brain power.
BRAIN
A friend: Well, if there is one thing I have learned from this it is that I don't eat near enough chocolate!
My realization: 7 hours and 92 chocolate bars later....

The realization... We are not alone!
the return

ghjgjghghj
Mere falderal... right?
Idoeno!
All I know for sure… is that some things are not always as they seem.
Everything we are taught, may not be completely factual.

Treasures

On a recent trip to the beach, we found treasure! Well… not pirate treasure… but nevertheless, treasures! It always nice to walk the beach. First off, ya get to kinda loose yourself… it’s just you, the sand, the water, and of course the adventure of discovery… for what you might find on the beach. First it’s really nice to be someplace where it’s just nature and you. Nothing of the modern world in sight. Seeing everything just as is was seen hundreds of years ago by people from long, long ago. Tip number one… turn off your phone as to not spoil the moment. Enjoy the fresh air, the sunshine, the sound of the waves breaking on the shoreline, and your toes in the sand!  Keep an eye out for treasures both big and small. They might be found anywhere and ya never know what you might find.
So, what can you find at the beach…
