Internet Access

Just a little internet access insight… from where I’m sitting…. the cheap seats.
First there was Internet Explorer, and that was all we knew. Then as our computer got older, and the internet and Explorer got more complicated, the old Xp pc with outdated hardware (3 years old ) just wouldn’t work right. Connections were getting slower and slower and the blue screen was becoming a routine problem. Ahhh… an answer to our problems… Firefox. Worked like a charm! now more problems or the breaded “blue screen of death”. It always seemed that Microsoft/Internet Explorer was one, at odds with any other computer/program that wasn’t of Microsoft origin… and two, always seemed to develop ever increasing problems on your computer, thus prompting you to upgrade and buy another a new pc. The came the compatibility issues with some website that would only allow you access using Explorer… REALLY? !! During the Microsoft Vista issues and problems, we stayed with Xp. We still use Xp on our 6 year old computers. Now that the newer versions of Windows seem to have the problems and bugs worked out, most of the older programs developed for Xp do not work on the new Windows operating systems. Another compatibility issue… guess they want us to run out and buy all new computers and all new programs… go Microsoft! … yeah… not happening.

Then along came “Chrome”… ahhh… the new kid on the block that was taunted to be a latest wonder! So we downloaded it and much to our surprise it worked beautiful. Not better then Firefox, but had more features. So while keeping Firefox on our pc’s, we started to use Chrome. As Chrome updated and developed new features it too became unstable with Xp… and we started to get the dreaded blue screen once again, and quite frequently. Apparently many users of the latest Windows systems have also had problems and have gone back to using Firefox.
So we quickly went back to using Firefox, and like magic, our good old Xp computer worked like a charm again. Amazing. I guess someday we’ll have to upgrade to a new windows pc to get the best performance on the internet, but we will probably keep chucking along with the good old Xp work all the programs that we have, which work perfectly on Xp.
Here’s a view of this past weeks results.
hjkhkhk
Keeping track on the percentages of people using Firefox verses Explorer and Chrome… well… it’s kinda of interesting. This week 63% of all access to my blog was via Firefox. Explorer was down to 13%, and Chrome that has steadily been in decline is down to 15%. And to think, Explorer once had nearly 100% usage, and Chrome when it first came out had got to over 50%, and is now at 15%.
Go Firefox!
It’s works great for me…
and many others too.
