Sweet Success

Wow… it must be true… it was on the internet… right?
Who knows… but for what it’s worth.

Honey and Cinnamon

honey-and-cinnamon22

Great information!! Cinnamon and Honey...! Drug companies won't like this one getting around.
Facts on Honey and Cinnamon:

It is found that a mix of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also note honey as very effective medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without side effects which is also a plus. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, when it is taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm even diabetic patients. Researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES: Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, put it on toast instead of jelly and jam and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol and could potentially save one from heart attack. Also, even if you have already had an attack studies show you could be kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of cinnamon honey strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as one ages the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and the veins.

ARTHRITIS: Arthritis patients can benefit by taking one cup of hot water with two tablespoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. When taken daily even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week (out of the 200 people so treated) practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain -- and within a month, most all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis now started walking without pain.

BLADDER INFECTIONS: Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder....who knew?

CHOLESTEROL: Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water given to a cholesterol patient was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, when taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol-could be cured. According to information received in the said Journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.

COLDS: Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and, clear the sinuses, and it's delicious too!

UPSET STOMACH: Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also is said to clear stomach ulcers from its root.

GAS: According to the studies done in India and Japan, it is revealed that when Honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

IMMUNE SYSTEM: Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacterial and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of Honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles (where DNA is contained) to fight bacterial and viral diseases.

INDIGESTION: Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food is eaten relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals

INFLUENZA: A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural 'Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.

LONGEVITY: Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Use four teaspoons of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and three cups of boiling water to make a tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans increase and even a 100 year old will start performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

RASPY OR SORE THROAT: When throat has a tickle or is raspy, take one tablespoon of honey and sip until gone. Repeat every three hours until throat is without symptoms.

PIMPLES: Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it off the next morning with warm water. When done daily for two weeks, it removes all pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS:Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin Infections.

WEIGHT LOSS:Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast and on an empty stomach, and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. When taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

FATIGUE: Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, even when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, when taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M., the vitality of the body increases within a week.

BAD BREATH: People of South America, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water first thing in the morning so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS: Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restores hearing.

Happiness?

RECIPE FOR HAPPINESS?

happiness
And what wants to steal your happiness.
Happiness is all the many parts of life that you experience. Moments, memories, interactions with others. How you perceive your life, yourself, and how others influence your life, and how you influence them. Happiness is all the positive aspects of all things.
Happiness is YOUR perception of YOUR LIFE.
Make it what you will... it's all up to you.
Worth repeating... IT'S ALL UP TO YOU.
------------------------------------------------------------
So why do so many people let negative influences rule their life and change them from the person that they could truly be... happy?
Why are so many concerned with what others are doing with their life to the point where it influences themselves in a negative way?
Why would anyone allow (because it's in your control) what someone else does, affect their own happiness?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Seems like to many times, people judge others, for whatever reason, and let that bitterness and hatred become part of their life... stealing their happiness. And more over, express their judgment of others so as to incite persecution because someone lives their life different from their beliefs or standards.
Why would they want to influence others to condemn and persecute those that live by different beliefs? ... spreading ill will.
----------------------------------------------------------
Want to be happy and find peace with yourself?
STOP JUDGING OTHERS !!! by your beliefs or religion.
Buddha-Happiness-Quotes

----------------------------------------------------------
Funny how that works... the Bible, and others religious writings, have many references to NOT judging others, and tells you how to lead YOUR life. Then why does it not stop there? ... and why do so many religions want to judge others, and impose their beliefs upon others, and persecute others simply because they want to live their lives differently?
DISCLAIMER: This is not true of all people in all religions, BUT... it is true that all religions have those that would judge, impose, condemn, and persecute those that do not believe as they do. Hence the term, "Religious Persecution"... which has been in varying degrees practiced by the church (no matter the religion) for centuries upon centuries... and been responsible for much hatred and many wars.
--------------------------------------------------------
Good example: The abortion issue. This has been turned into a religious and/or moral issue. It's still one groups beliefs being forced upon others. Judgment, condemnation, and persecution... and the influence upon politics to make laws to force compliance... based upon one groups beliefs. What happened to the freedom of personal choices and freedom from religious persecution?
-------------------------------------------------------
I DON'T GET IT !!! ( repeat ) ...  I DON'T GET IT !!!
How does religion profess a concept of not to judge, and all the negative aspects that follow that judgment, yet in some cases, too many cases, do exactly that? Effectively ensuring unrest and greatly effecting the happiness and well being of all. Some negative religious practices have done nothing but further fragment potential followers, and for good reason. There are too many positive aspects of religion and it’s benefits, to be overshadowed by those that can not simply live and let live, without forcing their beliefs upon others.
------------------------------------------------------
Of course, this is merely my perception. You are entitled to yours, be it the same or completely different. I just seem to find more inner happiness by NOT worrying about how or what others believe or not believe. Not concerned with forcing my beliefs on others, and opposed to others wanting to force their beliefs upon me, or anyone else for that matter.

Here or there?

elmo-thinking-of-you

MAKES PERFECT SENSE TO ME! Might just be one of those days. To family and friends far away. We're thinking of you. Well... we're here, thinking of you... kinda... but our here is your there. But if we are there for you, and it feels like here, we must really be here, as not to say there. So we must be here for you... although you're really there. So are you there for us, since you are not here for us? You're not here, but there. Maybe someday here will be there, or there might be here. Are you there? I'm here! ... ... mornings are so confusing... but only if you we're here, and not there. I'm just fine here...and hope that you are good there. There, I said it... or is it here I've said it. I definitely said it here, so you could read it there. Miss ya... there... But I can't miss you if we're there, only here. But I can't miss you here if you have never been here. See what I mean. Quite the dilemma... unless you could be here, or we were there. ... ... ... I should just say, Good Morning. oops, too late. Just disregard everything before Good morning. Okay. Were is my coffee... this would all make sense if only I had a coffee. I feel dizzy! Must take morning meds! ... with coffee! This whole thing would be much easier if you were here, then we could be be thinking about you here and also be here for you... rather then there for you. I still feel dizzy. Do you feel dizzy? If you do, I could be here for you, if only you were not there. So, I just I'll just have to be there for you, since you are not here. Can you be there for me since you are not here? Is this getting any more clearer? Have you had your coffee yet? If you were here I'd share my coffee with you... and we could be here for each other. Conversely... if I was there, I could have coffee with you... and we could be there for each other... but you'd have to view it as your here, meaning your there, because you are not really here. clearer yet. Let me explain... well... maybe not... I'll let you figure it all out. Call me if you need help. Or perhaps you might be better on your own... there. I know... I know... it's too early for this. Come back later, read it again... slowly... and it will all make sense. Once you get it, please explain it to others... I can't do this any more here... which is needless to say, your there, because you are not here. Got it? Okay! I can see you are wondering... is he like this every morning... and the answer would be a resounding... YES! Y'all have a great day. Now... really... aren't you glad I shared this with you? ... Wait for it! ... Yes!

Updates…

There comes a time when ya just gotta do, what you need to do. And sometimes that work… as in to make extra money for life’s pleasures… like food, medical, and shelter. So… what are we doing, and planning on doing? We got to Navarre Beach last November and did winter activities for the snowbirds… along with a little maintenance and office work to round out our 40 hours a week. The need for extra money has surpassed the desire to travel and play. But then again, it’s better to work full time for so many months than twice as long part time. Plus the work at a campground isn’t that hard anyway. During the summer there are no activities in the campground since there are so many things to do outside the campground… so we do office and maintenance. Life on the beach is pretty nice. So if ya have to be some place to work for a while, the beach is a good choice. Navarre Beach is just east of Pensacola, Florida… just west of Destin, Florida… and a hop, skip, and two jumps from Gulf Shores, Alabama… all huge beach vacations destinations.

uytututyu

So, what’s our plans? Well, we like the beach, we like the area, we like the job, and our coworkers are great. So our future plans here are left open, and to be here enjoying the beach and the area. It’s nice to get up for work, relax, eat, cleanup, and be to work on time… all just 30 minutes before you we scheduled. Shelly walks 20 feet to work, and I walk about 50 feet to work… and drive a golf cart the rest of the day, taking care of business.

3905-800

Life is sweet. We are near 3 family households about 40 miles away… so our days off are like a mini vacation when visiting. We have all the benefits of everything close by to eat and shop. This of course includes a Wal-mart just 2/10ths of a mile away. We eat out generally twice a week at local favorites, lots of seafood and shrimp… and fried chicken at the KFC buffet just 1/2 miles away. It’s a good one, and the buffet is only $5 and includes a drink. Our fresh seafood fix comes from a local market in Pensacola… Joe Patti’s seafood market, where we can get all kinds of fresh seafood at good prices… it’s usually a once a month trip along the gulf beaches ( Gulf Shore National Seashore ) to get our monthly supply. Like jumbo lump blue crab crabmeat at $14 a pound, and jumbo “royal reds” shrimp at $7 a pound, salmon, catfish, and anything else that strikes our fancy. Evening rides on the golf cart to the water, and perhaps a walk out onto the pier round out the day as the sun sets. The cooler evening breeze off the water and the colorful skies make it all worth while. Workamping is nice. A great place to stay, water, electric, wifi internet, cable tv, propane, and pay for the extra hours worked.

So, that’s about it. If ya have to do the same old, same old for a while, it’s nice to do it at the beach. Walk to work, and have everything else close by. 18 months from now… social security benefits will ease the need to work and yield more play time. Perhaps back at Disney. We miss Disney, but welcome time away from it… too much a good thing, even Disney can get old after a while. Being away for 3-4 years can make it all new and exciting again when we return. It was nice to work for Disney, and the benefit of getting onto the parks was great… but the 45 minute drive time, to and from Disney, along with the 30 minutes walk from parking to and from the work location… plus the fuel expense… well… it’s hard to beat a 30 second walk to work and all the savings in time 2½ hours a day, plus the fuel costs of being right here.

2002993952_6ba9e0dfa5

So there you have it. We miss rving friends that we have met over the past ten years… and since we are kinda stationary for a while… well… ya know where we are at… so if your travels bring you near us… we’d love to see you. The summer guests here are nice, but only short visits, here today, and gone tomorrow. Can’t wait for the winter snowbirds to return.

Hope y’all are having a great summer.

Haven’t had too many entries to my blog lately… too busy at work… too busy at play… and too busy relaxing and enjoying the sunsets.

Tragedy…

Tragedy has once again struck the tiny town of Kitchenville. Frank Furter is again suspected of foul play in the death of Ms Minnie Weiner. 4683460868_d93de8a1f8 Frank was caught red handed at the scene of the crime where Frank proclaimed his innocence and claimed that a Giant Human wielding the knife was really to blame. It’s similar to his story not too long ago when his brother Oscar disappeared and Frank claimed that a giant 40 inch child ate his brother. Frank is also suspect in the case of the French family when several went missing and the few that were finally found… well… their cold dead bodies covered in red tell a gruesome story.funny-life-photos61 We are not sure where this story will end but we can only hope that justice is served. If Frank is found guilty he will certainly face the microwave chamber and be eaten by the humans that he has repeatedly falsely accused… justice indeed for such the sinister dog that he is. It can only be hoped that everyone like him can face the same fate… and make this world a better place without hunger and fear. Pass the mustard please. Why mustard… cause nobody… nobody in the right mind would put ketchup on a hot dog and relive that bloody scene ( sick people indeed )… simply too gruesome to think about
Disclaimer: Please remember that all accused are innocent until proven guilty… and that just because one of guilty individual… namely Frank…  it doesn’t mean that the whole Furter Family are guilty… thought I am sure that sooner or later… they will all meet the same fate as Frank. Hope we have plenty of steamed bums and MUSTARD!

2nd Childhood Days

184150765v13_460x460_Front Second Childhood days is more then just a frame of mind…  some times it’s a cold hard reality, and not just a frame of mind.  When you get closer to 60, you start having 2nd Childhood moments… and they become ever increasing in frequency, intensity, and duration. So if you’ve already gotten there… you probably know what I mean… if you haven’t… here’s a sample of what you can expect. I know… it’s all been said before… “That won’t happen to me” … but, yea… it will. The worst part is… it’s the simplest things or tasks that always seem to be involved.
  • shoe laces will be more difficult to tie (never a 10 year old around when you need them)
  • shoe laces will always go into knots when you undo them ( must be fate)
  • screws and nails will never go in straight ( first law of the universe)
  • measure twice, cut once… never works out right (duh)
  • nothing… repeat nothing is ever straight ( but it looked straight a minute ago)
  • nothing is ever where you left it ( I think the wife has something to do with this)
  • I just had it, right here, now where is it (the new order of things… gremlins? )
  • say it aloud 3 times to remember it (no use… it’s gone)
  • put something small into a small hole (never happens) ( BTW… don’t go there)
  • why are cell phones so complicated… I just want to dial a number. (apps!!! ???)
  • Child guard caps only make it hard for adults ( arggg )
  • Papers always stick together ( licking fingers no longer works)
  • rechargeables always need recharging before use (second law of the universe)
  • you always wake up early when you need the sleep the most (yawn all day)
  • you can fall asleep in the chair, Tv blaring… but not in the quiet bedroom. (too quiet)
  • why won’t this lid screw back on right? ( I don’t like peanut butter anyway)
  • I remember things lasting longer when I was a kid ( everything made to wear out quicker now)
  • Nothing can be fixed anymore… it’s all disposable. ( no user serviceable parts inside)
  • Why do they always say you “Id or password is incorrect” ?? (don’t they know which one?)
  • “help” and instructions are NOT written for the laymen (need an 8 years degree)
  • everyone else worries about spelling, grammar, and punctuation ( who gives a rats arse) “F7”
  • explain to me why I need to shave all seven days of the week. ( I need a break 1 or 2 days)
  • you can never pour anything into another bottle without spilling it ( 3rd law of the universe)
  • doing the same thing over & over and expecting different results always worked before (always)
  • remembering what you put into that unmarked bottle… not happening ( yea… when you spilled it)
  • Hammers can fix anything… not really but it feels good! ( it’s called therapy)
  • rubber bands never broke when I was a kid ( made better?  )
  • ya leave your finger prints everywhere, especially the fridge ( so don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time)
  • when you wife says “What?”, she doesn’t want you to repeat it… she’s just giving you a chance to change your response.
  • shoes walk away by themselves… never where you left them ( wife again )
  • washing hands never  use to leave water splatter everywhere ( go figure)
  • “passwords” … why can’t I use the same one for everything… ( 1 , that’s easy to remember… okay… 1-2-3-4-5).
  • “Auto complete” … it thinks it knows what I’m trying to say and auto corrects it ( “dear it all”… SEE! )
  • spell checker… trying to spell a word that starts with “S”… options include words that start with “B’ or something else… so what’s up with that?  (BIG … ARGGG) betcha didn’t know “arse” was a real word either.
  • I’m tired, ready for bed, feels like 11pm… I look at the clock… OMG… it’s only 7pm. (early to bed, early to rise… just makes you tired the rest of the day… then repeat the cycle all over again… OMG… it’s only 7pm)
Well… you get the picture… and if you don’t right now… you will someday! See… you do have plenty of stuff to look forward to… and if you are already there… this should make you feel better (at least a little)… knowing that you are NOT alone.

Summer Rush

It's that time of the year when you get so busy doing so many things that time simply slips away. Family,  friends,  and warm weather activities take over. One of the last things you do is think about computer time and blogging.  Catching up time will come later in the fall when everything slows down. In the mean time I hope everyone has a wonderful summer to enjoy family and friends. We are finishing up a month long vacation with our daughter and the three grand girls. We have enjoyed the mountains and valleys of West Virginia,  and the cooler nights in the sixties.  It's a real treat to have plush green forests and rolling hills,  verses the scrub grass,  scrub bushes, and the sand and rocks that dominate the Florida area. I do like the palm trees and the beaches,  but it's nice to see the beautiful landscapes we grew up with. Flying back to Florida with the oldest grand daughter Kayla... She gets a six week beach vacation with us at Navarre Beach and with family at Crestview. We are currently working at Navarre Beach that we have made our home for a while. Three family households nearby makes it great for us being full time rvers...  Plus it's nice to be right on the beaches of the Gulf.
Planning on being here for a while, but our backup plan is always the Disney area and our two camp memberships...  So who knows what will happen or when. Disney is on a huge hiring spree and that is really tempting if we decide,  or if it's decided for us, to leave the campground at Navarre.  Time will tell. Workamping is sometimes a very fluid situation,  and the nature of the business is to always be moving on to new adventures in new places. And that's the biggest attraction...  Not having the same old same old,  having fun working, new places,  new friends, new adventures, and lots of fun.
Y'all enjoy your summer... have fun,  be safe, and live each day to the fullest.

Long, long, ago…

images Long, long, ago… sometime in the last century. Just think of it. Phones… mostly every home had one, usually in the kitchen, attached to the wall, usually black… and if you were lucky, it had a 20 foot coiled cord that would stretch all around the kitchen so women could still do all their womanly duties in the kitchen while talking on the phone to other women, in their kitchen, doing their womanly duties. Wow, how things have changed. Then came the old black desk model, it didn’t have to hang on the wall…images (6) it sat on the desk (duh) on on the end table in the living room… if you were among the near rich and could afford two phones… besides, that’s silly… who really needed two phones… please! And pay phones… they were almost everywhere… pay, yes, pay… you always carried some dimes in your pocket… dropped them into the phone, yes, into the phone… you got a dial tone ( ya just had to hear it to understand it ) … and dialed your number. Example Mulberry 6 – 4321. ( bizarre ) … if you prefer MU6-4321. Yep, that’s why the original phones had letters assigned to certain numbers… just so they could use cutesy prefixes like “Mulberry” or “Murdock” ( which if you didn’t notice… one of those two is totally redundant ) … and you could dial the number with the cutesy prefix name. Ya only used the first two letters of the cutesy name for the first two numbers of the number you were dialing ( now you see why one’s redundant).  Yes… dialing… a round disc, dial if you will, with 10 finger images (1)holes for selecting the right number and spinning the dial to the stop point to dial the number. Well, simple then, complicated to explain now. The word “dialing” came images (8) from using the disc with holes, or “dial” …everything has basic word origins… “call me” actually started before phones… as in shouting across the field or street, calling to someone… like for dinner… although I personally preferred the old iron triangle… but that’s another story. Now the box phones on the wall that had the attached “receiver end” ( the part you talked into, the part that “received” your voice and conveyed it ) , and the corded earpiece which was about the size and basic shape of a 12 of cup that you put to your ear to listen… well, that was a bit before my time.  Still confused on the “Mulberry 6 – 4321” … MU6-4321… just look at your phone… “MU” is “68”… and the number was 686-4321… later complicated with area codes and further complicated even more with multiple area codes within the same neighborhood and even in the same house. So why do they call them area codes… well, at one time the area code actually indicated a certain specific geographic area for which that area code was assigned… which is now completely lost in a mass of confusion…. but that too is another story. So where were we? oh, yes, phones. images (2) Just think back to then… what were phones good for? Talking to family and friends… oh, and the newest convenience, ordering a pizza via the phone so it would be ready when you got there to pick it up. Yes, when you got there to pick it up… no pizza delivery back then… you had to pick it up your self. But then again, that’s when pizza was really good… delivery just changed all that forever… yuck! Anyway phones… just think of them today. They do so many things that you wonder if anyone still uses them to just talk. Personal data storage, GPS & directions,  cameras, games, music, calendars, texting ( ah, now a practical use for all those letters with the numbers ), and the internet with a gazillion apps that put the world, and all that’s it knows at your fingertips. How did the human race survive when phones were just a tool to talk… via that black box, hanging on the wall in the kitchen, with the long cord, so women could do all their womanly stuff while talking to another woman in their kitchen doing their womanly stuff. ( ladies… don’t take this serious… I was just kidding… but I believe this was for real back then ). animation And I didn’t say anything about being barefoot in the kitchen… which was more realistically true verses modern women of the time (1940’s 50’s & 60’s) that wore fancy dresses, ruffled aprons, and got dressed up, hair made, makeup on, and wore high heels while preparing the family meals, and then serving them. Right, did anyone really do that? … like on Tv and in commercials, and printed ads? … not in my house! Oh, less we forget the modern phone of the 60’s… the oval shaped “Princess” phone, when came in pastel Easter colors, of which “pink” was preferred 82% of the time. The later Princess phone incorporated the first touch tone keys that replaced the dial, which we still use today ( not the phone… the touch tone key pad), at least for a while longer until the whole voice recognition thing is perfected. And lets not forget when the 60’s phone became ultra modern and space age, hence the model that looked like a gaming joystick… for those that remember, the dial, and later push buttons where on the bottom, in the base of the phone, hidden out of sight. Now there’s another word with questionable origins… joystick. Well, maybe it best not to got there, cause that’s certainly another story.
Oh, back to phones… a wonderful marvel of today’s technology that sometimes makes it hard to even figure of how to just answer the phone when someone actually calls you on it to… of all things… just talk to you… as in person to person… real voices… talking to one another. Then there’s the flip side… now how do I “dial” or “call” someone that I needed to talk to? Perplexing indeed. Notice I used the phrase “needed to talk to”. I almost never “want to talk” on the phone… it’s a only when I need to thing. Why? … cause I’m a guy. Woman want to talk, that’s why Bluetooth was invented, so women could do anything, anywhere, and still talk to each other…. all the time ( please note that I didn’t mention any womanly kitchen duties). Kinda like women being telepathically connected, but currently via a phone ( better things are being developed for the future as I speak). Well, this is what I’m told… so don’t kill the messenger. On the other hand… men… use phones only when you can’t avoid it and you really need to… keeping it as short as possible. Don’t get me wrong… I have one of the marvels of modern technology… 95% of my use is NOT related to actual talking. I’m just not sure why they still refer to them as “phones”… when this is the absolute least used of their capabilities. Oh, and lets not forget the term “ring”… it was derived from the sound the phone made when someone was calling you… actual bells inside the phone would ring… hence the term. Today they do everything else but ring. So if phones were a new invention today, what would the new terms be… since “dial”, “call” , and “ring” are really outdated notions. perhaps “push” as in buttons… “connect” as in calling… and “notifying” rather than ringing… But what do I know. So whatever… “push” or punch” (not dial) in my number so you can “connect” (not call) with me, and once my phone “notifies” me (not rings)… I’ll “acknowledge” (not pick up, cause I didn’t put it down or drop it) and we can talk. But wait, I seldom carry my phone, so you’ll have to leave a message… kinda like the bottle thing but faster… and I’ll get your message when I think to eventually look at my phone ( when it’s beeping at me… saying the battery is going dead)… and I’ll call you, or ring you, or whatever, as soon as my phone recharges… if I remember. But not to worry, my phone will beep to tell me to take it off of charging, and I’ll probably remember to call you.  What do I care… “it’s a phone” … and I’m a guy. So keep in touch… text, email, instant messaging, facebook, or Skype… wow… we have come a long way from smoke signals, the pony express, and telegraphs. For the younger generation… just Google it… it will explain it all. If you already fully understand… well… then you are old like me. And if you’re battery goes dead… just drop me a note in a bottle ( youngins, you can Google that too! ) … later.   BTW… to quote Jimmy…. “if the phone doesn’t ring… it’s me”. (how true). I will be thinking of you, remembering good times together, both new friends and old… and you’ll know it was me… not calling… when your phone doesn’t ring…or sing… or something. I still miss the new older cells phones… ya know… the one’s that had a ring tone at was a “ring”… that way you know it’s your phone ringing and someone is calling you… rather then hearing music playing and thinking that sounds nice… and wondering where the music is coming from… and missing the call. So now you see, even if I carried my phone with me… what’s the point… I’d just think it’s music somewhere and miss the call. Or if I realized that a “call was coming in” (another bizarre term), I probably couldn’t answer it in time or wouldn’t remember which button to push to answer it anyway. Now you know… know what? Know why you always have to leave a message if you call me… see!
Next topic… who knows. Maybe about words or phrases that we’ve used well beyond the actual meaning of the words origin and initial usage ( like call and ring )  … or the abbreviated phrase that we all understand the meaning… but realistically, in modern terms, just reading it, don’t make sense. Like: “I gotta take a pee”. You’re not really going to “take” anything… aren’t you really “giving” something ( as in getting rid of )… ah… but the origin of the phrase was shortened from… “I gotta take some time away from what I’m doing to go pee” … but that’s to long to say, especially when you really need to go… now! So it got shortened! But that’s another story.
Yall have a good day… and don’t think too hard on all of this. I believe it’s referred to as “falderal”. Wow… spell checker liked that word, but my desktop Webster not so much. When I tried verify and check it out… Webster don’t care, not in there. 70,000 up to date words and definitions… but no “falderal”. Feels good to “get” Webster. Wonder where falderal originated. BTW, did you realize that Webster’s desktop dictionary of 70,000 words is only part of the 165,000 accepted words in the English language. That alone should make you wonder.
Falderal:
1. mere nonsense; foolish talk or ideas.
2. a trifle; gimcrack; gew-gaw.
3. Origin: 1695–1705; originally. as a nonsense refrain in songs; of obscure origin

The World according to Gump.

Momma always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.
So true… some are good, some bad, remember to look for & and enjoy the good ones.
You have to do the best with what God gave you.
Still a good plan even today!
My mama always said stupid is as stupid does.
Yep… true too… and it’s just a point of perception anyway.
Mama always said miracles happen everyday. Some people don't think so, but they DO!
Yep… some are big, some are small, and if you look for them, you’ll find’em.
The Best thing about being shot in the ass is the Ice Cream
Yep… you can always find the good in something… and Ice Cream is always a good thing.
Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp Creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.
Never a bad way to fix or eat shrimp!
But here’s the BEST way…
shrimp old bay
And that's all I have to say about that.
There’s a lesson here too! You learn a lot more by listening. You also learn who to listen to, and who to not.
Yep… little lessons for a good life are every where to find…
Kinda like stopping to smell the roses…
Just take a moment to find the sweet things…
Remember them when things go sour…
and you day will always be a bit brighter!

Danger Will Robinson

Dangers Will Robinson never faced…

Facebook… it’s many things to many people. Mostly a good way to keep up on family and friends. And the little that is not so good… well… it’s mostly really, really bad. And then there’s the plainly annoying… too many posts, suggestions, or ads that take “commercials” to a whole new level of annoying. But it is what it is… like everything else ya can’t have the good without some of the negatives. Ya just need to realize what they are and learn how to deal with them, get around them, and avoid them if possible.

fb ads (9) Some of the negatives. Lets start with addition. I go on several times a day (short peeks) on my leisure time just to see what family and friends are up to. This is especially nice with Rving friends. People that you meet and could very easily loose touch with as we all travel to new places to do new things. Some people we know have turned the casual trips to Facebook into journeys of epic discovery that have taken over their lives. The danger signs are not only that they go to Facebook often, but seemingly spend multiple hours of their day, through out the day, everyday, on Facebook… hours upon hours at a time… to the neglect of other “real” things they could be doing to enrich their life. It’s funny to see someone post and especially repost 20-30 “shares” everyday via their Facebook… and then comment that they don’t have time to get things done in their life. BUT… to each their own… I’m not judging… just observing. They are welcome to do whatever they want… and that’s the beauty of it all… ya have the freedom to do anything you want for as long as you want… it’s your life. But be aware of the possibility of it taking over your life. After all, the innocent idea of Facebook keeping you on touch with others is a mega money maker driven by greed. Advertisements and commercials of anything and everything that might be interesting to you to read (to get you involved), or “Share” (to get others involved)… all that make money for someone else, fb ads (13) while consuming more and more of your time… or should I say, your life. Bet Facebook and its advertisers love to find something that you are passionate about, so that endless targeted commercials can be sent your way… for your viewing pleasure, with the idea that you can get involved and easily “share” them with others so they to can get involved or pass them on too. It has, and can get out of hand.

fb ads (10)

Then there’s the scams so to speak. From those that simply want to appeal to you personally, be it something good or something that you are opposed to. They want you to agree with their way of thinking ( and that’s okay ), and hopefully pass it on (“share”) to others so that they too can identify with the issue and agree or perhaps be persuaded to thinking differently. Some posts, be them mere commercials for some thing or some issue, could have a great purpose behind them all, and you are just a unknowing participant. Some directly or indirectly make money for someone as you visit their posts or Fb page, and when you “Share” this with others, it multiplies their potential to make more money. Some “shares” are more covert and want to to “share” more things with others to broaden their database of people and what they are interested in (to target future ads and commercials), and sometimes to collect names and data for more destructive purposes on a personal level. It sometimes amazes me that those that always seem to get hacked, seem to be those that “share” posts, comments, and ads redirecting them, and those they share it with, to other Fb pages, web sites, videos, and other places where you personal information or at least your name and computer are at risk of being used. This is further promoted by posts that encourage you to pass it on (“share”) to family and friends… pass it on if you want to be rich, happy, and blessed. They generally say that 99 out of 100 will NOT pass this on… and they’d be correct… 99 of 100 are smarter then the 1 that did. Thinking it’s just for fun? Harmless? Maybe… maybe not!

pass on

Next on the list of negatives. Generally it’s not good to have a written discussion that may become heated and get out of control. Communication person to person is a lot of things. Body language, expressions, tone of voice, mannerisms… not just the words. And all that communication is missing when it’s only words on the page. Misunderstandings can easily develop and things can get out of hand quickly… people have lost friends over this… or at the least have developed issues that may have been resolved or not. Then there’s those that always want to inject controversy into everything… even to the point of being rude, just to stir the pot of discontent. Who needs this?

rude

So what’s the solution? Well, like everything, ya have to endure the bad to get the good. Learn to avoid it where possible. Use Fb controls to limit who or what you see. Limit who see’s what you post. I also use a neat little program called “Social fixer” to sensor things I don’t want to see. Like blocking all posts or comments that contain certain words… like… “politics”, “political”, “president”, congress”,  “government” for examples. It may not work all the time, but it helps. Bottom line… it’s still information passed on by your family and friends. And you want to see their updates about themselves. Even if the updates are mixed in with their 20-30 “shares” every day. I have taken them off my newsfeed so all their “shares” don’t appear on MY newsfeed, in my face. I just get notifications of their posts… and skim past the “shares” to find the updates to read. Works very well, and helps keep my newsfeed more in my control. Probably the biggest annoyance is the political crap. It may be real, and may be truthful… but that’s not he point. There’s a place for everything, and political crap on Fb amounts to little more then simply complaining. Your friends already know how you feel… and like most either don’t care or don’t want to hear it over and over again. If you truly want to effect political change, Facebook is not the venue… get out there in your neighborhood, out with the people, and actively promote your thoughts and feelings about why you think your candidate or party is the greatest, and why the other is so bad. Convince them… out there, in the public, where you can make a change. My personal belief via years of observation and government corruption, coupled with no one in government being able to do anything except blame others for all the failures… NONE OF THEM ARE WORTH ANY CONSIDERATION. Facts about all politicians, and both parties, leave many, many things to be desired. So please, leave it all off of Facebook, quit complaining on Fb to friends… just get out there and do something about it. You’re not accomplishing anything complaining on Fb.

******************************************************

fb ads (8) The bottom line: Facebook is what it is… The good, the bad, and the annoying. Tolerate the negative to get the benefits of staying on touch the family and friends across the miles. Still mostly good. Not on Facebook? Don’t be put off by the negative that you might hear. There’s still a lot of good benefits to staying in touch with friends despite any negative. The biggest negative… the time consuming addiction ( but you can control that) and the annoying reposts of “shares” and ads/commercials. They are kinda like tv commercials… control what you can, ignore the rest, and fast forward through them. The rest is all good.

Internet Explorer

 698533315982397221

e1According to a confirmation by Microsoft, a new zero day vulnerability has been found to affect every version of Internet Explorer. In other words—over a quarter of the entire browser market.

Attacks taking advantage of the vulnerability are largely targeting IE versions 9, 10, and 11 in something called a "use after free" attack. Essentially, the attack corrupts data as soon as memory has been released, most likely after users have been lured to phony websites.

If you are among the remaining people that still use Internet Explorer for internet access, your Pc and you could be at a big grave risk. Microsoft is working on the problem, but this is little comfort to Xp users now that Microsoft will no longer support or update Xp software. Many businesses still use Xp including the IRS, and many people are still loyal users of this best and most reliable operating system.

Why do so many still use Xp? Reliability, compatibility with programs, users friendly features.

Why does Microsoft not support Xp anymore? It’s all about dollars, as if Microsoft doesn’t make enough. Xp users don’t need to buy the new programs, and they are not buying new computers and newer operating systems. No sales, no more money for Microsoft. Since Xp support has ended there is a solution… Microsoft says you can upgrade to new operating systems that are supported ( buy new computers ) or purchase expensive support for security software updates for Xp. Ahhh… now there’s a money making idea.

Back on topic…. But then again, why is anyone still using Internet Explorer? Firefox has the biggest user loyalty and unlike Google Chrome works well with all operating systems including Xp. Chrome crashes Xp, but is said to work well with the latest windows operating systems. I have been using Firefox for several years and love it. Then there’s Safari for Pc plus the mobile version for smart phone users. Ahhh…  I bet Internet Explorer users still use a flip phone and have cassette tapes and VHS recorders. That’s okay… there’s no intent to insult… there’s just newer and better things out there that you just haven’t gotten yet.

How do you get Firefox or Google Chrome? Free download and free updates that include all the latest security features that Internet Explorer seems to be lacking. So check it out and consider making the switch. Fried hard drives, lost data, and being hacked for personal information and passwords is no fun.

In the mean time… good luck to Internet Explorer users… you must like living on the edge.

Rv Fridge

At some point in time everyone’s refrigerator will fail. So, what’s the difference? Two major elements… a Rv refrigerator has the ability to run on propane and electric, so as you travel you can keep things cold not being hooked up to the good old a/c house current. It also costs, in our case, about $3,600 for a new one. The same size household refrigerator cost about $400. Even to make a minor repair to the rv fridge would cost more then the brand new household (a/c only) unit. Now, if you are almost always hooked up to a/c except for a 6-8 hour trip while traveling maybe, just maybe you don’t really need the rv fridge propane operation feature. For an extra $3,000 I think I can live without it. Two additional bonuses. The household unit will cool quicker and easier then the rv unit, and will make more ice faster… plus there’s the every present possibility of the rv unit failing and causing a fire destroying the rv. This has been a problem for several years involving major recalls and warnings from both of the rv refrigerator manufacturers. Recalls virtually involved almost every rv fridge made up to 2008 or so. Most of the fixes for the recalls were more or less patches that should fix the problems but rv’s were still at risk. Probably why most new rv manufacturers are putting household units in their rv’s.

The Rv refrigerator… $3,600. 10.5 cu ft capacity.

f2

The Whirlpool Household refrigerator $405. 10.7 cu ft capacity.

And you can even put an ice maker into it for about $90.

Sweet!

It was an easy choice!

A little bit of work to more one out and one in… and a little bit of cabinetry work and we will have a better and safer unit… and save $3,200! It’s perfect for the rv… only 24 inches wide so it will go in any rv entrance door, and only 28” deep, and 61” high. And if you wanted to remodel the rv, and have the room to do it, install two of these units for extra storage capacity. Twice the capacity at 25% of the cost.

Planet Earth 2

Good news... NASA has discovered another Earth like planet. So if mankind should ever need to leave Earth before eminent destruction befalls on us all... we'll have a place to go. At least in theory... if we can develop technology to get us there faster. With current technology it would take 18 million years.

PLANET 186f

Thinking hard on this one... right?
