Baltimore Ravens

BALTIMORE RAVENS... 2013
PRESEASON WEEK 1
The 2013 season is off to a very good promising start.
The game started kinda slow, it looked like any other preseason game. Shortly before half-time, things started to change and the Ravens started to roll more consistently... racking up 44 points vs the 16 for the Bucks. All in all, a very promising start for all the new players.

With the loss of so many veteran players the 2013 season looked questioning. After the draft, and other acquired players, both veteran and rookies, things certainly looked promising. While it is still very early after only one preseason game, the new players certainly seem to appear like a team that has played together several seasons.

To top off the game, with seconds remaining, Tucker kicked a 57 yard field goal, hitting the crossbar and bouncing through.

Yep, a very promising start.
Ravens Fans are in high spirits.
So glad NFL Ravens Football is back.

PRESEASON WEEK 2
As usual, preseason games are a mixed bag of emotions. The veterans start the game seemingly as a workout, not really trying to win or as if anything was on the line, and leave the fans wondering what's  going on. Its like the other team is playing to win, and we're just there to have a practice workout.

That's how yesterdays game was. Dismal performance in the first half and through the 3rd quarter, still optimism lifted us as fans over the current disappointment of a terrible first half performance' and we kept the faith. The center focus of most games is usually on the quarterback, and Joe's performance as a NFL Playoff and Super Bowl champion... well, disappointment is the only word that comes to mind. Kept thinking... here's the same old Joe, cold, hot for a moment, then cold, cold, cold. But perhaps it's like I said, it's like a "workout" more then game play time when you expect the best of them. Thank goodness optimism was followed by a comeback performance by the players in the 4th quarter. Players who's jobs and futures are on the line, and view every play of preseason game 2 as being vital. Hence the great comeback by the second team, new players and rookies. All of which lifted are spirit as fans.

What a great comeback win. We got to see a great job by the new players, the rookies, and our second team players like Taylor at quarterback.
But a game like this just leaves us as a fan a bit weary and somewhat less optimistic about some of the starters. Is The Playoff and Superbowl Joe gonna be here at seasons start? We'll have to wait a few more weeks to find out... when playing and winning really count.
Somewhat of a nail bitter, right to the end, but a win is a win... and it was a great comeback. Perhaps in no small part to the overconfident Falcons. After all, 23-7 lead into the last quarter does a a certain finality about it... but it's not over until the last second ticks off the clock. And that's exactly what it came down to, the last second to decide who was going to take the win. Mistakes made by the Ravens in the first 3 quarters came to visit the Falcon's in the forth quarter... and it cost them the game. Some critical calls by the refs seemed to go in our favor, for a change, but they were consistent in the way they made the calls, unexpected as they might have been.
So, another game in the win column.
                              Go Ravens

The second team players, new players, and rookies are working hard and looking pretty good. Now we need to starters to regain our confidence.

Preseason Week 3
Quarterback Joe Flacco came out looking like a champ on the first drive to a touchdown completing 5 of 5 passes and going the length of the field with ease. Then he fell apart and gave up two interceptions that led to two touchdowns for the other team. Combined with a fumble and another interception by the back up quarterback, both lading to touchdowns... well, it's hard to win when you give the other teams defense 28 points. Some shining moments and a near comeback were put under by needless and untimely penalties, sealing their fate, and giving what would have been a third straight preseason win. Game lost and hopefully lessons learned. But we got a good look at the newest Ravens and see who will be kept, and who will be cut from the team. Next weeks performance will set the stage for opening day and the final team roster. Glad this game was only preseason. It would be nice to Playoff Joe return... and not see anymore Hot and Cold Joe like we had all of last years regular season. 125 million seems over the top for inconsistent performance. We shall see.
