Role models

Once again, those that are role models to your children and grand children, continue to use poor judgement and in public, and act in a manner that can only be considered appalling. Perhaps it's time to  consider additional guidance for your children, that would deny them access to what was once a good example, and now boycott anything related to them. It's also perhaps the only course of action that the entertainment industry will respond to... Loss of revenues. Don't support the industry or the actors/singers, their music or their tv/movies... Don't spend you money as a vote in favor for deviant behavior.  They don't deserve your attention or monitory support.

            Role model for your kids???

But don't rely on one persons opinion... Just check out YouTube. Everyone is appealed by her, excuse the phrase, performance. If she was interested in publicity, she got it. If she was interested in changing her image, she did it. If she planned to loose anyone's respect, she did it. Her own boyfriend didn't even attend... At least he's got some self respect. Think what you will... Act on what you feel.

Baltimore Ravens

BALTIMORE RAVENS... 2013
PRESEASON WEEK 1
The 2013 season is off to a very good promising start.
The game started kinda slow, it looked like any other preseason game. Shortly before half-time, things started to change and the Ravens started to roll more consistently... racking up 44 points vs the 16 for the Bucks. All in all, a very promising start for all the new players.

With the loss of so many veteran players the 2013 season looked questioning. After the draft, and other acquired players, both veteran and rookies, things certainly looked promising. While it is still very early after only one preseason game, the new players certainly seem to appear like a team that has played together several seasons.

To top off the game, with seconds remaining, Tucker kicked a 57 yard field goal, hitting the crossbar and bouncing through.

Yep, a very promising start.
Ravens Fans are in high spirits.
So glad NFL Ravens Football is back.

PRESEASON WEEK 2
As usual, preseason games are a mixed bag of emotions. The veterans start the game seemingly as a workout, not really trying to win or as if anything was on the line, and leave the fans wondering what's  going on. Its like the other team is playing to win, and we're just there to have a practice workout.

That's how yesterdays game was. Dismal performance in the first half and through the 3rd quarter, still optimism lifted us as fans over the current disappointment of a terrible first half performance' and we kept the faith. The center focus of most games is usually on the quarterback, and Joe's performance as a NFL Playoff and Super Bowl champion... well, disappointment is the only word that comes to mind. Kept thinking... here's the same old Joe, cold, hot for a moment, then cold, cold, cold. But perhaps it's like I said, it's like a "workout" more then game play time when you expect the best of them. Thank goodness optimism was followed by a comeback performance by the players in the 4th quarter. Players who's jobs and futures are on the line, and view every play of preseason game 2 as being vital. Hence the great comeback by the second team, new players and rookies. All of which lifted are spirit as fans.

What a great comeback win. We got to see a great job by the new players, the rookies, and our second team players like Taylor at quarterback.
But a game like this just leaves us as a fan a bit weary and somewhat less optimistic about some of the starters. Is The Playoff and Superbowl Joe gonna be here at seasons start? We'll have to wait a few more weeks to find out... when playing and winning really count.
Somewhat of a nail bitter, right to the end, but a win is a win... and it was a great comeback. Perhaps in no small part to the overconfident Falcons. After all, 23-7 lead into the last quarter does a a certain finality about it... but it's not over until the last second ticks off the clock. And that's exactly what it came down to, the last second to decide who was going to take the win. Mistakes made by the Ravens in the first 3 quarters came to visit the Falcon's in the forth quarter... and it cost them the game. Some critical calls by the refs seemed to go in our favor, for a change, but they were consistent in the way they made the calls, unexpected as they might have been.
So, another game in the win column.
                              Go Ravens

The second team players, new players, and rookies are working hard and looking pretty good. Now we need to starters to regain our confidence.

Preseason Week 3
Quarterback Joe Flacco came out looking like a champ on the first drive to a touchdown completing 5 of 5 passes and going the length of the field with ease. Then he fell apart and gave up two interceptions that led to two touchdowns for the other team. Combined with a fumble and another interception by the back up quarterback, both lading to touchdowns... well, it's hard to win when you give the other teams defense 28 points. Some shining moments and a near comeback were put under by needless and untimely penalties, sealing their fate, and giving what would have been a third straight preseason win. Game lost and hopefully lessons learned. But we got a good look at the newest Ravens and see who will be kept, and who will be cut from the team. Next weeks performance will set the stage for opening day and the final team roster. Glad this game was only preseason. It would be nice to Playoff Joe return... and not see anymore Hot and Cold Joe like we had all of last years regular season. 125 million seems over the top for inconsistent performance. We shall see.

21st Century

Another step into the 21st Century... the Android Tablet.  My first big jump was the iPhone... now there's the tablets. I know, the iPad, a bit pricey, so I got a tablet. Shelly got the Kindle Fire last year, so this was my turn. With prices being so reasonable,  and with all they do, I couldn't resist. Walmart keeps bring the prices down... cheap versions as low as $45... moderate to mid-ranged at $69-$129... and up from there. I wanted the $79 - 7" unit but it was sold out, so I got the $99 - 8" unit. What a difference that extra inch makes... but ya probably know that already. I've been using the iPhone very heavy for all the apps, so now I have the  tablet to do all that.

Pretty much anything ya want to do is here, the list is endless. Hundreds of apps and shortcuts to all your favorite sites. But be fore warned... you are only gonna get extremely basic instructions. Be prepared to Google, You-tube, or get an app to explain all the stuff you can do, and how it set it up...and even then, some instructions are for different versions and won't work as demonstrated. So plan on several hours over several days to figure it all out, and set it up. If you are like me,  and kinda want it all...  right now...  set up is a real bear! And that's putting it mildly. All worth it in the end.

Then it will be all enjoyment. ( big smile)...  A new toy!
More tips to follow later...  added to this entry. (later)

Chemistry

Chemistry exercise of the day... with a bit of thinking. Remember what you have learned and seen. What do you get when you combine...
Nitrogen (14.00674), Zuunium (300.000), Barium (56.137.327), Gallium (69.723), and Iodine (126.90447), in the proper order?
The proper order is the clue.
<<<<<<  thinking? >>>>>>
And they say Television rots the brain.
Just depends on what you are watching.
Some shows are very educational.
Atomic weights might give you a clue.
<<<<<<  thinking?  >>>>>>
Dr. Cooper was the first to discover Zuunium and combine it with the other elements. Ahhh... So heres the correct combination in the proper order. Combine equal parts of each...
Barium, Zuunium, Iodine, Nitrogen, and Gallium.

<<<<< ring a bell yet? >>>>>

I could tell you...

Wanta look it up... Google it? Got it!

Well... Maybe I should...

So what did you learn?
Regardless... Never the less...
"Live long... and prosper".

Wait... Who's missing? Where's Penny?

And yes... I'm always right...

The whole gang agrees...

And anyone that doesn't agree...

Now... Do you want to play a game?

Or really learn something?

Or... Should we move on to more involved concepts of higher learning?

But... What fun would that be?

Whats up moonpie?
Enjoy your day!

H2O2

The little miracle... Good article.

And now you know!!

Grammar

First off, this is not intended to insult or criticize anyone's abilities. To each their own.  If one wants to observe all the rules for proper english grammar, the more of power to you. The world should be proud of your dedication to such detail.

I will not judge you. Myself personally, I place 98% importance on the ability to conveying ones thoughts and feelings in writing rather than emphasizing all the grammar and punctuation rules. So if I seem a bit lax on proper grammar... Well... It's just not that important to me. So just as I will not judge you, perhaps I am entitled to the same consideration. It seems a waste to write something, and all someone takes away from it is the thought that too many grammar rules were broken... missing the whole intent of the article. But then again that's your loss and your hang up... And perhaps not the most important thing in life. If that's all it takes to irritate you... well... That's just not for me... But you are welcome to it.

I've met too many people that are sticklers for all the rules, and can not even effectively express their thoughts and feelings in writing. But that's somewhat besides the point... Why judge others?
So here's to being able express your thoughts and feelings in writing... And having someone else read it and know exactly what you meant. Perhaps even identify with you, alter their perception on a certain topic, provide a bit of enlightenment, invoke memories, or even perhaps inspire.

If nothing more, simply enjoy an amusing story that will bring a smile to your face, or maybe even touch your heart.

So take from things what you will. Enjoy the intent, and less on the rules.

Pumpkin Butter

One of my favorite things from up north is pumpkin butter. Its very much like apple butter, which due to a freak happening, gained popularity over pumpkin butter in a 1908 statewide cook off at the state fair. The favored winning contestant for the pumpkin butter entry was delayed when a stray cat caused the horse to bolt, and the wagon wheel broke when going across the covered bridge as it hit the side of the bridge. As fate would have it, the repair delayed the pumpkin butter entry, and apple butter won the first prize, and pumpkin butter faded into obscurity. But that's a whole different story.
Pumpkin Butter is hard to come by unless you're in Amish country, and even then usually only in the fall. It's a true joy if you like pumpkin. I love pumpkin. Spending most of our time in the south... well... we're never gonna see it south of the Mason Dixon Line. So I found this easy recipe. Gonna try it so I can enjoy one of my favorite treats year round, no matter where we're at. Figure if needed I'll tweak the recipe to my own taste. Nothing quite as good as fresh baked biscuits hot out of the oven, spread with real butter, and a generous spread of cold pumpkin butter. One of the simple joys in life! Don't forget the ice cold milk!
So here's the recipe...

Ahhh... a pure delight!
Better make a double batch!
