Remembering Grandparents

Remembering grandparents and beyond.
Life goes on, generation to generation. Seems incredibly strange how little we know about our parents before we were born... even less about our grandparents... and nothing about great grandparents or beyond. Bits and pieces of history passed down and old photographs tell little of their story and bring up so many more questions to which no one is alive to answer. Wouldn't it be incredible to be able to go back in time to see things about their life. Their day to day lives... their hopes... their dreams... their hardships. What they loved... what adventure they had... or even what kind of a person they were.  All lost to history. I've traced one family line to Ballibay, Ireland in the mid 1700s. Not much to know. Sometimes I wonder if there is any truth to DNA memory. Those faint feelings of  deja vu when you go someplace you've never been to, yet you have a familiar since of being there before, and somehow know what's around the corner before you get there. DNA memory from an family blood line from years ago? Strange how that happens. Once on the Yorktown battlefield I had a semi reality experience of faintly hearing the sounds of the battle, hearing the shouting, hearing the cannon, smelling the black powder smoke ever so faintly, and then it was gone.  Science is decoding DNA, perhaps someday  able to read memories in detail. For now, all most of us can do is wonder. Perhaps the next generation will have more insight to ourselves years from now with the computer, internet, and data storage age we live in. Then again... great grandkids and beyond may not even have the desire to know.  My blog is a bit of my legacy for generations that probably will never read it. But who knows. And its fun and I enjoy writing. And that's enough for me now, with a little hope for later. Thanks for reading and enjoy your day... Every day. The posted photos.  Doris was my mother. James my father. James O. (grandfather), Emma (grandmother), James O. Sr (great grandfather).
The take away from this? ... If your parents and grandparents are still alive, take the time to ask them about their life.
