All seasons...

A Park for all Seasons

The mean of pi

Rainy hoe-hum day. Some people read...
Some watch movies... Some play games...
Sometimes I like to simply think about things.
Like... The meaning of pie...
And how I don't have any.
I think I once read that you should have pie everyday.
Makes sense to me.

If the shoe fits...

No other word in the english language can adequately and completely convey the meaning of the word "asshole".
It enbodies several concepts all into one word.
The descriptives are almost endless.
As is the mulitudes simply being themselves... everyday.

Keep trying

Working on meatless meal options...
So far, not successful...
But I have found five ways not to have a meatless meal.
But... I'll keep trying.

Old time...

Me, I'm from the land of the long lost. When you go into the library and you ask the young person behind the counter where the card catalog is. Yeah... I got that look. How about the Microfish index? Their look hasn't changed. Then they reply... "sir, are you okay?"  ... yep, just in the wrong place.. I guess you don't sell burgers... then I walk away... out the door. Now we both have a story to tell. Ps... the burger was good.

The majority?

All problems facing society today.
All the negatives.
All the discontent.
All the aspects of a dysfunctional society.
Is it the majority of people?
Or is it the minority extreme fringes?
The news media would have you believe that our dysfunctional society is a majority issue.
It's it really a majority issue, or is it that the media sensationalizes everything negative so that you get the impression that its an issue created by the majority rather than the minority fringes on the extremes?
Are politicians and the media effectively yelling fire in a crowded social theater to manipulate people to meet their agenda?
We may never know the answer.
One thing is for certain... It's the perfect storm to encourage a continued breakdown of society.

Something to consider...

Getting a proper education. Now there's a topic up for debate. I see what they are teaching in school and wonder several things. They teach to remember things that will be on the tests. Some seem relevant and some not too much. In any event, the emphasis seems to be on memorization... Some things may be retained but like most things, they will be forgotten over time. It would seem more relevant to teach how to, and where to find answers as questions arise. But there's no points for knowing where to find the answers verses memorizing the answers. Perhaps this is indeed a narrow viewpoint, but when memory falls short, I don't know as the final answer is greatly lacking.

Happy Mardi Gras

Happy Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras will not be the same this year.
Memories from past years...

Good news...

Sometimes... ya just know...
Every little thing, is gonna be alright.
No sense cry over spilled hot sauce...
even if it is crystal.

Fantasy

Can you use a little fantasy?

Real?

Real... Probably not.
But who knows?
Only those involved,
and they are long gone by now.
Very interesting.

Pie of the day...

Pizza... The perfect treat... any time.
Valentines day special ...
Pizza John's... Essex Maryland.

Winter in the rv...

Winter in the rv...
Beyond keeping warm... The next concern is keeping the water supply line from freezing... your drinking water hose from the campground faucet to your rv. First insulated the hose with pipe foam insulation.  One inside the rv, usually the basement or access bay, make sure it stays aboue freezing vis RV furnace or space heater.
NOW... most people leave a faucet trickle, like the kitchen sink. If you do this, be sure to leave the kitchen gray tank valve open to drain, and that your sewer line outside is angled to drain. We once had a bad experience where the sewer hose particularly froze and created a elbow which froze, and the drain not being able to drain,  backed up into the holding tank, up into the line, filled the sink, and over flowed onto the floor... all while we were fast asleep. You can imagine the mess.
SINCE then we trickle the water to the outside of the rv. Our set up also gives me a garden hose in the basement for use outside.
Here's a diagram of what we use. This may help you.
Stay warm and keep that water supply from freezing.

Stay safe

Stay Safe!
We all have in some degree, a sense of being indestructible. At the least, a sense that  "it won't happen to me". Driving in freezing, snowy, icy weather should make you question that thinking. Easy to simply stay home if you are not working. Having to go to work complicates the decision to stay home and stay safe. In the face of public warnings to stay home, one question matters. Is driving worth the risk of crashes, damage to vehicles, injury, and possible loss of life? How will your life be affected, your family, and others. Is it really worth the higher risk? I hate to think of family or friends making a frivolous decision to take the risk... Y'all stay safe.

ICEolated

Winter wonderland... yep... wondering when it will be warm again. Consistently below  freezing for 36 hours and counting. Ice on everything. Just looking out the windows, not going anywhere.
Really ICEolated. (sorry, couldn't resist).
Y'all stay warm.

Who would have thought...

Who would have thought?
Growing up in the 1950s we became kids influenced by the age of television. Our parents and especially grandparents, that grew up in an entirely different environment, thought that television was too much if an influence and would adversity affect our lives. One thing that certainly comes to mind was the widespread depiction of smoking cigarettes on television. Just about every show had multiple characters smoking. All making smoking seem very socially acceptable along with the illustration that since so many were smoking, it surely must be safe. And while the were other negative aspects of watching television, like spending too much time sitting in front of the" boob tube" verses getting outside and playing which was much healthier.

Flash forward to today... after 25 years of computers, cell phones, texting, tablets, and social media. The information explosion with everyone exposed to everyone elses prejudices, racism, and beliefs... everyone wanting to force their beliefs upon others... and others resenting their interference and forced influence. Add socially dramatically contested controversial issues and everything being sensationalize by the news media and social media.

The perfect storm for a socially everything negative environment. And watching the Grand kids growing up under all these negative influences... It's easy to see how the news media and social media have flooded the lives of young adults, teenagers, and kids with controversy, turmoil, anger, and hate.

The past, verses the present... the technology age of internet and social media has proved to overall detrimental to the wellbeing of society. A whole generation of malcontents coupled with the" its all about me" generation. So yes... Personal opinion... social media has done more harm than good for young people that are not emotionally prepared to deal with all the negativity. To say tv negatively impacted the boomer generation is a drop in the bucket to the flood of social media that has negatively impacted young adults and kids.

Social media, the news media, politics, politicians, racism and prejudice... the down fall of society.... Filled with hate and ugly.

We were all better off before social media.. More negatives than positives.

Bright hopes...

Bright hopes in a pandemic isolation world....
One of the joys in life... great food.
Coming soon to a table near us.
Ahhh... emotionally uplifting.

ISOLSTION

Isolation... use to be that isolation for mostly was a senior issue. Retirement... where basically almost half our social interaction is eliminated. That leaves family and friends that are busy day to day with their lives... leaving less time for you. The older you get the more friends past away so now there's even less interaction. Plus the desire to make new friends deminishes when you get older... seems to be human nature. Less active physically, staying home more, and the isolation compounds itself.
NOW, add to this the Covid pandemic... going places is almost nonexistant. Social interaction is extremely limited both by government guidelines and the personal fear of infection, thus the self imposed physical isolation.
ADD to this the issues associated with social media like Facebook. Flooded with social controversy on politics, prejudice, racism, black lives matter, protests, demonstrations, riots, destruction, and all basically angry, mean, and ulgy... all distasteful and after 4 years of it your face everyday. Too many people promote the controversy, while others are put off by it, and Facebook is no longer a place to socially interact with friends.
FUEL to the fire, the news media only adds to social contension. Indirectly promoting more social division over a wide range to controversial issues.
AND while everyone is offended by seemingly everything... no one can agree on anything... and its all ugly.
SO... There you have it... The perfect storm for ultimate personal isolation. Physically and more importantly emotionally isolated.
Lots of time to think about it all... everything.
